TC New Englander with blocked and frozen nipple.

Recently picked up a NE’er that was in storage for many years. Little bit of rust in the barrel but rifling looks good. Here’s an issue that has me puzzled. The barrel is clear, nothing left inside. However, the nipple is plugged and frozen in place. It’s a stainless nipple so I can’t figure why...

Thanks for the tip, going to give it a “shot”. Already thinking about a flip up/down version.

Need help....Have a cva hawken rifle with ball stuck in it,,,

I’m an expert on stuck ball, have pulled may out for different reasons. Buy a ball pooled ( nothing more than a pointed screw), attach it to your range rod in run It down the barrel. It’s better if you have a range rod with a “t” handle because you will try turning the range rod clockwise while...

    Converting reproduction to Percussion

The Investarm barrel form and fit with my TC is very good. My trouble is that the Investarm barrel is from a flint lock rifle so the issue for me is installing the powder drum, hence the metric touch hole. Drilling and retapping seems the best solution. I’m learning a lot from all the...

    Be careful with unknown hardware.

New member to this forum and really getting great information and unvarnished opinions ! I wanted to pass the following on since it caught me by surprise. Recently I purchased a used 50 cal barrel from an unknown source online. It arrived and I started to fit it to my stalk and decided to...

    Converting reproduction to Percussion

I’ll have to finalize the math so your point is well taken. TOTW does offer a 3/8-24 and a 7/16-24 barrel so there are choices. Like you Pedersoli, and your ability to switch and appreciate your point.

    Converting reproduction to Percussion

Aha! Every problem has a solution ! If I did 1/4-28 it should be tight enough and use the same for the nipple. Thanks!

    Converting reproduction to Percussion

Gave it some thought. I figure the drum needs to be fixed in position to align with the hammer. That would require a specific start and end point of the new threads. A skill beyond me. Am I overthinking this?

    Converting reproduction to Percussion

Just a quick follow up about converting the 50 cal barrel to percussion. The suggestion to look at TOTW was a good one and have quite a few powder drums to choose from. Here’s my next roadblock, after exposing the “attachment tapped hole” on the barrel I’ve discovered the barrel is threaded for...

What great advice, Track of the Wolf had a big selection of drums. Just need to determine thread sizes. Thank you very much!!

    Converting reproduction to Percussion

Hi and thanks for letting me join this group. I’m a reproduction BP rifle user and shoot frequently. For some time I’ve wondered if I could take my 54 cal Hawken and replace the barrel with a 50 cal. As luck would have it I stumbled onto an inexpensive 50 barrel that fits my 54 stock...
