    Easiest finish to apply

    True Oil from Birchwood Casey. Can be rubbed back to any sheen you like, very durable. Important to let it dry thoroughly between coats

    Ignition WOES!!

    I had the same rifle for 22 yrs and never had a problem with black or subs. Screw a 30 cal cleaning brush on your rod and get it into the ignition area of the patent breach. For me changing nipples regularly was important.

    Maple finish

    Aquafortis’s aggression can be regulated by how much heat you apply and how soon in the process. Light wetting, let it dry, hold it over a stationary and constant heat source, keep a close watch on it for the darkness you want. It lightens up with rubbing and finish.

    Air rifle shot is much harder than ‘regular’ steel shot, which is really iron. I wouldn’t putz with it. Maybe at black powder pressures and straight cylinder bores you might get by for a spell

    Ideas for filling chip in stock?

    Drill a small hole at the very end of the crack, that will stop it from progressing, de-grease the area, mix some stain with two part epoxy and fill it proud. You can then take it down to flush with the right grit to match sheen of your stock finish.
