Is TMLRA still in existence their web site hasn't been updated since 2010? Last time I went through Brady I stopped at the visitors bureau and they said they have not heard of any shoots in a couple of years.

Where are you in Tejas? There is White Smoke Brigade they shoot 4th Sat of the month near Canyon Lake. Texas Free Trappers have a rondy this coming weekend Feb. 9-12 near Shiner then Fredrickburg Free Trappers will have another rondy in March I think around the 15th but not sure, also near Shiner.

Well I heat cycled both steels one still doesn't work very good but the other one throws alot more sparks now, not what I would call a shower but it is better. I made some some new char cloth today and got fire on the second strike. :)

I second what Keith said. There is also the military, unfortunately they need someone to take care of soldiers bodies.

I've got a couple of steels that I think need to be hardened/rehardened. I can get a few sparks but not alot. What is the best way to harden the steel. I have access to a oxy/actl torch at work to do the heating.

I should have said the shoots are normally on the 4th Saturday of the month but it may be moved to the 3rd Saturday(21st) this month.

Red, I am a member of the White Smoke Brigade a club near Canyon Lake (New Braunfels) that normaly shoots the 3rd Saturday of the month, this month it may be moved to Jan. 21st. Rusty

Hey Bill, Just getting back with you I shot with WSB in October (my first time there)I was the guy with the ponytail. It had been a while since I had shot with any group and looking forward to the shoot Dec 10. See ya there.

Found the forum a few weeks ago. Been shooting smoke poles since the 80's. I live in Dripping Springs just west of Austin.
