Stump wood can have some perty interesting grain in it. Lot of waste as it cracks and warps when it dries.

I agree, it's perty bad alright. The colors are nice though, and the shape is nice too. If you lose it or it gets swiped you can always make another one and it will be better than the first one. Don't beat yourself up too bad. Make another one for a spare. Or maybe even sell it. People will...

Not today but on Sunday last I shot my Hawken style rifle at Butte. Was an offhand gong match at varying ranges. Lots of fun. It was a reminder that I need to adjust the hammer strike and make a new nipple wrench and make a .58 jag for it. I cried and begged so they let me use a peep sighted...

About 50F for me. I got a call from a friend yesterday. He told me it was -55 that morning at his place. I didn't ask if he was out shooting his flintlock because he told me he was trying to get the car started.

I use spit. So simple so effective, free and I never run out and I never forget and leave it home. Spit is perty handy stuff.

I also like this Franz Dischler rifle.

I guess mine would have to be my Ted Fellows long barreled rifle. That's what Ted called it when it was his.

GOEX FF. Bench rest match at Tacoma. 200 yards. First seven shots went into a 1 1/2 inch bull. Dropped one about three inches and the last two shots went back in the group. About five in the evening and the last relay of the day. It was dead calm.

When I use GOEX FF in my 45 which has a drum and nipple I get hang fires and sometimes it refused to fire. When using FFF, it fires instantly every time. So there are some rifles out there that will not like FF.

Be careful out there.....

First rifle, 45. Round ball rifle. Light recoil. Very accurate. Easy to load and clean. You will like it. My very first MLr was a .50 and my buddy had the same exact rifle in .45. His rifle was far more accurate and more fun to shoot.

Very nice! I like it a lot! Really stands out. Okay I'm talking about the wood. I should go back now and look at the rest of it.

I seldom shoot alone but I can do both. Pretty boring shooting alone. No one to talk to but sometimes I do it anyway. My dog is very gun shy so he hides on the floor in the car. So he's no fun.
