What is your favorite era of muzzleloading?

I'd like to make it over there some day. 1950 miles is a long expensive trip these days. :( With my knees I have a hard time driving any distance. 😢

What is your favorite era of muzzleloading?

When the opportunity arises I sure do. Unfortunately all matches of that sort have stopped at Cody. I'm ready though should a match pop up somewhere. I use a slug gun or picket rifle at Glasgow MT every August. They have no limits on the type of rifle to be used in the ML match.

There is also a BPCRS match on Saturday the 10th. Trying to keep shooting sports going.

    .40 Caliber - What's the Point?

That's Glasgow MT. No, the wind never stops blowing. We shot a RB match there a couple years ago and we had six inches of drift at fifty yards.

    .40 Caliber - What's the Point?

Here's a 39. Not quite a 40. If it was a 40 it'd be all engraved and be sporting fancy wood and gold inlays and and...

Questions for the guys that can "shoot all day" without swabbing

I use a spit patch and shoot light loads for plinking and target shooting. Talking about patched round balls. I have found that the amount of powder used per shot determines if you have to wipe between shots or not. In my 45 I can shoot 60 grains of FFF GOEX without wiping between shots and...

    .40 Caliber - What's the Point?

.40 caliber rifles tend to have superior sights on them.

    .40 Caliber - What's the Point?

40 caliber rifles tend to be cooler than other caliber rifles. Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed or what?

    Granddaddy of Production Muzzleloaders?

Kormann. The first modern production rifle I bought was a Navy Arms many years after the Kormann.

    Naming your guns?

I have two Jeeps that have names. 61 and 77. Okay, those are numbers.....

    Naming your guns?

All my rifles had names when I got them. If I was to put a pet name one rifle it would have to be a flintlock. Sparky or Rocky. Stoner? To weird for me.

What does your favorite rifle weigh?

11 pounds 8 ounces. No, no that's not my current favorite. 11.8 is the weight of my favorite RB rifle. A Hawken rifle. My current favorite is a just acquired target rifle and it weighs 16 pounds. My favorite is the one I'm currently messing around with. But that could change. At any time. I'm...

    How did you get hooked?

My dad who was a shooter collector passed it on to me when I was very young. He had a very ornate German hunting rifle with damascus barrel that I used to shoot indians with on the old Zenith. Yes, functional art, history, appreciation of fine craftsmanship, fine wood. The muzzleloader went...
