    Bullet lube ??

For bullets, if they have grease grooves, I use bullet lube. There are about six different types in my loading supplies. In a pinch you could use just about any grease.

Old Stuff, What Do You Have?

One old thing I have is a beer stein from the late 1700s. Still have some mechanic tools my dad gave me when I was twelve. Old rifles of course.

    Dangerous Situation

Just checked mine. Mine is solid brass not hollow. Maybe I'm missing something in the OPs post? If his tube is hollow how did they stamp the numbers in it and make the lines without sqwershing it? Okay, I get it now, after reading it three times. It's early!

    Witnessed Unsafe Behaviors

Many years ago at a rifle range my dad got a .54 ball stuck half way down the barrel of his rifle. I was on another bench shooting my .45 long rifle. Next thing I see is dad squatted down below the bench to protect himself while reaching up to fire the rifle. Protecting himself but to hell...

This has probably been asked before

Two reasons I will not leave a muzzleloader loaded is first safety, mine and others. Leaving a muzzleloader loaded can acumulate moisture and refuse to fire. I've had that happen. Watched a big cow elf run off laughing while I was going click click click with my blunderbuss.

    Silk as patching

I don't know about silk as patching material but you can catch a nice gal with it if you know how to sweet talk one. A good line once you've got to know her is to whisper in her ear, "stick with me sugar, and I'll have you fartin through silk in no time" .

Anyone else thinks this looks like crap?

Take it to a gunsmith. If it were mine and I wanted it round I would squeeze it in a vice or whack in with a hammer on the anvil. Use a set of calipers to make sure its perfect. If the muzzle is worn out of round cut it off and file it square.

Anyone else thinks this looks like crap?

Oh, he's worried about looks. Well, don't show it to anyone! Problem solved.

Anyone else thinks this looks like crap?

Make it round with a vise or set it on an anvil and whack it with a four pound hammer till it's round again. or get a new barrel or cut it off till you find a round part. Or cone it, or sell it or part it out. Do something. We can't fix it for you on the internet. You have to do it. Or just...

    Peep Sight on flintlock?

Neat picture. That sight is historical if you were a target shooter in New England mid 19th century. And other places as well. You're lucky to still be able to see open sights. Most shooters switch to the peep when they can no longer see open sights.

Best way to use spit patch?

I like oysters. Lots of people do. If you can eat raw oysters guts and all, a little piece of clean rag aint gonna bother you. I also use store bought lubed patches. Buy the way, that greasy slimy green bile in the oysters gut is what makes the oyster so tasty. Dang, my mouth is watering...
