What "fun" targets are your fav's

I've got a bunch of old bowling pins from years ago. Used to have 'pin shoots' after combat league was over for the night. A dollar in the pot and whoever could clear five pins from a four by eight foot steel table the fastest took the pot. Those competition days are in my past - but I'm...

What "fun" targets are your fav's

Lots of great examples - I'm getting new ideas for myself. Below is something made from some steel that a fellow gifted for the use of my range. The stand I already had built, it was just a matter of making up a new set of straps. For my lighter gongs I can have the legs moved further out, this...

    Muzzleloading Newcomers

I'm a member on a few firearms forums, in my opinion this one is the best of those I have experience with. There have been a few times I've seen whoever post something about whatever and I kinda go: "Was that really necessary?" Are there subjects that keep getting brought up instead of someone...

    Harper's Ferry Flint .58 Rifle?

Thanks for all the responses - I'm exploring my options.

    Harper's Ferry Flint .58 Rifle?

Awhile back fell into a deal on an unfired Pedersoli Harper's Ferry flint pistol with a .58 caliber rifled barrel. Since then it appears to be lonely for a matching rifle, but all Harper's rifles I've come across are either caplock, smoothbore or a caliber other than 58. I noticed some possibles...

    Percussion Cap brands

I have used RWS, Fiocchi, Remington and CCI. In my case I have had no problems with any of these brands.

    HELP Shotgun Choices??

I have owned a Pedersoli 12 ga side by side for over twenty years and have been very happy with it.

    Goex, back in business

So, the old 'hoarders' vs 'planning ahead' thing? Example: Back in the 1990's there was a situation where primers were scarce. 'Hoarders' pounced on opportunities to buy them by the 5000 count case lots and stacked them to the ceiling in their garages and spare bedrooms. The years rolled by...

    Perfect Range Rod

Quite awhile back a guy at a gun show was selling solid brass range rods with antler handles. Bought a 3/8" diameter 37" long with bore guide that has worked very well for .45 bore up to .72. Sometime later a couple of .32 rifles appeared in my shop somehow and I bought a 1/4" diameter 46" long...

    what capper?

Sounds like you've got it under control. I've tried a variety of things, and own pretty much everything others have responded with. If I have one I use more than the others it's a Ted Cash snail style capper. It can be tedious to load, but in my case I find I can load the capper under more...

One Long Gun And One Handgun

Kodiak .72 caliber double rifle and my fixed sight Ruger Old Army with a 5 1/2" barrel. I figure I could get by loading birdshot for close range work in the rifle if I really had to. If not for the 'defense' part of the equation I would use my '58 Remington instead.

    what capper?

This is kind of "Ford, Chevy or Dodge" type of question. Lots of great responses - but in my opinion it depends on the person. Would it be possible to meet with other shooters at a range and try some different types?

    .32 rifle load

I have a pair of Pedersoli Frontier .32 rifles, one percussion and the other a flint. Both are 39" barrels with 48" twist. The load for both is a Hornady swaged .315" ball, .015" mink oil patch and 30 grs. Goex FFFg. At 50 yards the groups are 1" - 1 1/2". I do get the occasional blown patch.

    4f for .44 cal revolvers?

I had found a download of some of these pages a while back and made sure to not lose them. A week or so ago I found this book at a gun show for $5 !! Now I gotta make sure I don’t lose the whole book…..

OMG Percussion caps at my local Gun Store

Was at a gun show in Duluth today, no caps. Stopped at a store in Superior WI later - CCI #11’s for $11.99. Close enough, I bought three tins.

    Naming Your Rifle?

I own an unmentionable that has a very classic stock. Decided to name it after one of John Wayne's leading ladies who (I feel) defines class. 'Maureen', after Maureen O'hara.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Was at a small local gun show with a buddy. Not looking for anything specific, just wanted to get out of the house. Fellow had a 1st edition Lyman Black Powder handbook from 1975 and a Black Powder Gun Digest from 1972 - both for $5. That Lyman is the one that has FFFFg load data for Ruger Old...

    Stupid stuck nipple

Kroil has saved me a number of times. Was once asked to rescue an 1858 Remington cylinder full of some very buggered up nipples. No idea what they were using for a wrench but there was no way any type of tool was able to grip anything. As the nipples were all toast anyway I found the right...
