Sounds to me like the flint is hitting the frizzen instead of scraping down it, and the frizzen is a bit too soft

I’ll have to get it out in the next day or two, to have a look. As I remember, it’s round bottom rifling. Quite deep. I think it’s seven groove but will let you know

How do you know the bore size, if you haven’t got it yet? Until you’ve miced the barrel, you won’t know the true caliber

I’ve not had a problem so far, but then I don’t use dull flints. I knap the edge a bit, if they’re not sparking enough, or replace them. But it normally keeps shooting all day, with the same flint. Of course you get bad flints, but that’s my experience so far

I know a guy called Will Lord does courses. He has a website. In fact, I think, and I may be wrong, he is the main knapper, in the UK at the moment
