BEST CALIBER TO HUNT DEER W/ FLINTLOCK RIFLE

Ive taken deer with 45s an 54s and they do a good job but here in my neck of the wood the thickets are THICK an if one does not drop on the spot you need a good blood trail. Big holes equal bigger blood flow which makes for a better more visible blood trail to follow. Im a 62 cal fan not for the...

    Jug choke patterns.

All mine are 12 ga done by Caywood so I cant help you with 20 ga info. Jug choking improved all mine making them tighter more nice round patterns and they shoot the big 690 an 700 ball very nice out to my usual 50-maybe 60 yds. I never shoot past that anyway in these thickets around home even...

How many of your rifles have killed deer?

Both my 62s have taken deer an coyote. The Bruton lots more than the Schell woodsrunner since I have had it lots longer. My newest 62 has a zero count being that it didnt come in till after deer season this yr. Its batter up this fall though

What length barrel is your turkey gun?

My turkey gun has a 32 inch colerain oct to round barrel that has been jug choked extra full by Danny Caywood. That barrel is very handy in the thick woods that I hunt in. It shoots very good patterns out to 40 yrds. I like it but it may not be everyones cup of tea

Chokes or no Chokes for Turkey Hunting

    1F For Shotguns?

1F has always patterned better than 2f in all my smoothbores. And there is a noticable difference recoil wise if your recoil sensitive. It works for me but you need to test an use whats best for you
