where can i buy used black powder revolvers?

It involves drilling the other end of the loading lever and cutting a slot to put the latch into. Then cutting a slot on the end of the cylinder pin for the latch to seat into. I may revisit the project at some point, but right now it works with the other latch really well.

where can i buy used black powder revolvers?

I didn’t have success with the loading lever at this time. It kept falling down when shot. Others on YouTube have had better luck than I did. I may revisit it at some point. Now I’m using a latch sold by companies like Howell and Taylors. It works really well.

where can i buy used black powder revolvers?

I don’t believe I created a thread for that. I posted it on other threads. You can find lots of info on YouTube. That’s where I got the idea and methods to do it.

    BLACK POWDER STORAGE

I keep mine in a hallway closet with lots of unmentionable ammo in ammo cans. Several pounds of powder including pyrodex, 777 and shooters world, plus Swiss and Schuetzen and many pounds of smokeless powder on the shelf not contained. I also make black powder out in the garage as well as...

Been thinking the 51 needs a blade, adjustable front sight

That’s bizarre! I have seen chronograph tests with 2” barrel 44 caliber black powder revolvers and the velocity loss is dramatic. Even go from a standard Remington army to a Sherrifs model with a 5” barrel and I’ve seen tests with something like 150-200 fps difference. That’s why I left the...

Been thinking the 51 needs a blade, adjustable front sight

Yes. I saw many videos of cut down Remingtons on YouTube. Some have had good success doing what I did with loading lever. Me not so much! I did leave the barrel a bit longer than others. But yeah, my influence came from many videos on YouTube!

Been thinking the 51 needs a blade, adjustable front sight

Originally I drilled out the other end of the loading lever and put the spring and latch in the other end, then cut a slot on the end of the cylinder pin that the latch would seat in. Problem was under recoil it would still fall down. Tried a stronger spring but to no avail. So I ordered one of...

Been thinking the 51 needs a blade, adjustable front sight

Here is one I put on my cut down Remington. It’s for some kind of rifle, not sure if it’s from an investarms kit. I filed in the dovetail and fit it in there. Seems to work ok. At least it’s windage adjustable!

    1858 Remington cylinder bolt lockup

Well thank you for that suggestion! I just tore the gun down, put a slight bend on the arm of the bolt as you said, put it all back together, and it’s working fine now! That was an easy fix! Much appreciated!

    1858 Remington cylinder bolt lockup

Thanks! I have the parts, but the bolt has quite a bit More material on it than the original. It’s going to require a lot of material removal and reshaping.

    1858 Remington cylinder bolt lockup

So I have a 1858 navy made by Pietta. Actually I have two but the other one is fine. The cylinder bolt started rising and locking up the cylinder at half cock! I took it apart to clean it, but I can’t believe that would cause that to happen. It always seem to come up a bit early because it had a...

    Too much trouble.....

You can buy stump remover that is made from potassium nitrate. Just read the label to make sure you get the right one. You can buy it from from companies that sell fireworks making supplies. The feds don’t really care about potassium nitrate. It’s the perchlorates and dark aluminum used to make...

    1863 sight install

I used a magnet on the barrel to first get the sight positioned then a small c clamp to hold the sight in place when I soldered.
