Just a little better among reproduction Colt 1862s?

It looks like the 51/2” . That’s what mine is. It also comes in 61/2” and I believe a 41/2” .

    Sheriff to Bulldog

Not sure! It’s for a rifle. Probably a Hawken. I filed the slot. It took awhile. I did it while watching tv with the wife.

    Sheriff to Bulldog

It’s hard to explain but the sliding lock that locks it originally on the gun I removed and drilled a hole in the other end of the Loading lever and installed it there. Then I filed a triangular slot in the end of the cylinder pin where the sliding lock fits into. I hope that helps. You can look...

    Sheriff to Bulldog

Haven’t shot it yet. Haven’t really finished it yet. The grip is comfortable and I can, like you, wrap my pinky under the grip. I’m considering making a little space between the frame and trigger guard also. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze in that spot! The sight I installed is slightly taller...

I will consider that, thanks for the idea!

    Sheriff to Bulldog

I will defarb at some point, but I don’t think I’ll do any bluing. Either clean it up and polish in the white, or let it patina. I have 2 cylinders for this gun, one shown which is blued and one like the frame. I also have an unmentionable cylinder that I’ll leave blued. I like the contrast! I...

paper cartridges for my different revolvers

You should have no problem. Most of the 44 caliber paper cartridge kits are setup for conicals and 26 to 28 gr powder. That should fit in any of the standard 44’s. Making them with a round ball would be even easier to load since the are smaller and lighter than the conicals. 209-250gr for...

Finally "finished" my Traditions Kentucky kit.

Looks pretty darn nice to me! I did my first build this year yet I still haven’t shot it yet! I have to drive about 45 minutes to the range and hope that I can get an open lane. Keep up the great work!

    Sheriff to Bulldog

Yeah I’m going to do that later. I did that with two kit guns I put together earlier this year. I can’t stand the writing they slather all over guns these days. I’m debating on wether to polish it up or let it patina naturally too.

    Sheriff to Bulldog

I took my Pietta Sherrif model and turned it into a 4” barrel bulldog grip Remington. I have a full size Remington ordered so I thought it would be a fun project to make this. The hardest part was filing the dovetail and installing the sight. I stripped the grips and gave them a couple coats of...

    Which Revolver?

I recently bought the “kit” version of this gun. The rough casting was more than I wanted to deal with, so I sent it back and ordered the Pietta target version instead. I took the grips from my Sherrif model and stuck it on the frame. The grip frame is slightly larger in the back, about an 1/8”...

    Winter at the range

How did you know?!! A bunch of psychics on this forum don’t you know! And yes I am/was a bass player! I have the same username on many forums. Guns, knives, music, etc… right now, or I should say the last 5 or so years I’ve taken a break.

    Winter at the range

It’s a beautiful cool breezy 85 degrees today in Sw Florida. I moved here from Massachusetts in 1995 and haven’t been back, and I know I couldn’t handle the cold up there now. Or the dumb gun laws either. The closest I get to frostbite now is when I have a snowcone with grape syrup on it. I have...

The Transportable Convertible Pistol Loading Stand

Possibly sometime but I’m a stick figure artist! I was thinking of an arm you could adjust up and down and lock into place and also swing to the side out of the way. I hope that helps!

The Transportable Convertible Pistol Loading Stand

How about an adjustable arm that swings around and locks into place behind the trigger guard to help hold it in place, and also take the force of ramming the ball home without as much worry about busting or cracking the stock?

    1863 Remington

Also I’m assuming it’s 0 buck I want to use which is .320? 00 buck is .330 which may be a bit on the large size?

    1863 Remington

Is buckshot a bit harder than the usual round ball soft lead? And does that matter at all?

    New guy from Florida

I had a friend who bought an ultralight amphibious trike from the builder who lived in Live Oak. That trike was a lot of fun!

    1863 Remington

So I ordered one for the fun of it. My question is what size round ball do you run in this particular little 31 caliber? And where can you buy some of these? Maybe someday I’ll pour my own, but it won’t be anytime soon.
