My pedersoli 10 gauge was really and 11 gauge. 12 gauge plastic wads fit the bore perfectly so I could shoot waterfowl loads out of it.

Back in the 70s my brother and I had a couple of Texas made 58 caliber Mowrey Texas Carbines that we would roam the ranch with shooting very light loads. Lots of rabbits, armadillos and other vermin were targets. Sold them and often wished I had held on to mine.

I have lucked into caps at Walmart, Bass Pro and other box sporting goods store so be sure and look if you go in these places.

I have purchased several of the Uberti and Piettas models when Cabelas used to send them to you. I have returned two ubertis that were extremely out of timing. I have not had problems with my Piettas. That being said I prefer my Uberti models.

I have had all the top brands and find that here in the Texas Hill Country with the heat and cold extremes they make it a year or two being out all year. Warranty service was terrible. I now use the $30.00 Tascos from Walmart or the $30.00 Muddy cameras from Academy and get just as good...

Put some lead balls in your powder horn or take a non sparking container and crush some of the FFG to get smaller grains.

I recently went through this and was told by a locksmith to change the battery, take a rubber mallet and tap all around the door. Then take a flat board and put over the keypad and tap a few times with the mallet. Then enter the combination code. It worked on mine, thank goodness.

Congrats. I have taken several with a forty through the years. They have a musk gland on the back that you want to be careful of when skinning or remove if you are in camp where they will hang for a while. The younger ones are better. We would smoke ours on the pit and they make good tacos.
