Stain plus Iron Nitrate - Best Application Sequence on Fancy Maple?

I would do the iron nitrate/heat first. You can adjust the coloring later. Zonie said he never used iron nitrate, because the results were too unpredictable. He did it only once, and used stains for everything else. Minwax is poorly rated by builders because it doesn't penetrate well. Myself...

    ML Kit Build Difficulty?

I don't have a bench. All of my work has been done at my dining table with a Tipton Gun Butler or clamping the stock to the table itself. (The rubber grips on the Gun Butler hold remarkably well.) I've 3 Traditions kits and one TOTW. Eric is 100% correct.

    Nylon brush broke off. Help

This. It is the fastest and simplest method. And I *have* had a stuck brush, at the bottom of a .62 smoothbore. Hardest part was finding adequate tubing. Spent over an hour finding and modifying something to fit down the barrel, but once done, it took all of 30 seconds to get the brush out.

    CLOSED Numrich Arms Barrel

Not a trap door, which has a door at the breech for loading cartridges and a firing pin. This is 100% percussion. Not 45-70, either, which is a cartridge.

    Storing Black Powder in Phoenix

Keep it in the original containers. If you store those in a thick-walled wood box (use 1" boards,) it will be fairly fire resistant. Keep that box in a closet in your house if you're worried about summer heat. Don't worry about a fire, if it burns long enough to burn through the heavy wood, you...

Loss of spark in cold temps

+ 1 on the lock lube thickening up. It does not take much to slow the action down enough to significantly reduce sparking.

Building a Tradition's Tennessee from a Kentucky Kit?

Sorry, I didn't realize the Traditions Tennessee was only a 24" barrel until I looked it up. I was thinking of the Pennsylvania.

    Traditions kentucky rifle build

If you can work sheet metal, and solder brass, making one is relatively easy.

Building a Tradition's Tennessee from a Kentucky Kit?

Not all wedged barrels had hooked breeches. Why would you want to cut the barrel down? It's already short for a longrifle at 33", and too short to represent anything before the early 1800s. The lugs are not big enough for wedge keys. You will have to either enlarge the dovetail slots or cut...
