    Who owns a MVTC pistol?

Well, I'm away from the gun so I can't look at the breech right now, but I thought I'd chime in on the MVTC Murdoch pistol. Mine came through an MVTC dealer who proofed it with a .50 caliber ball and a 125 grain charge. Seems safe enough for me.

It's no good. Send it to me.

    tug of war with ramrod

I think I had a similar problem with my .693 smoothie. Even after the bore was clean, I'd find myself struggling with a patch that was binding. There were times I worried it was stuck for good! This happened both wet & dry, and with different types of cleaning patches. Not being the brightest...

    Cookson fowler

Well shucks! There's a lot I'd do different in this life if I could go back with what I now know!

    Cookson fowler

I've got one from MVTCo too. I'm not going to pretend it's a finely made custom fowling piece - it's a $600 import. That said, after refinishing the stock and tuning the lock, I've no complaints. She doesn't weigh ten pounds either, at least a pound lighter, maybe more. Remember too that these...

    Opinions on Middlesex Trading

I recently acquired one of MVTC's New England Fowlers. Even though I bought it second hand, Pete and Wendy have provided great support. I refinished the stock and did a little polishing to lighten the trigger pull. I'm very happy with the gun for the price. Now I just need to learn to shoot her...

    Leather canteens

Look them up not as canteens but as leather costrels.

What do you use for a canteen?

A leather costrel. Something like this or this .

    Enlarging ramrod hole

I just wanted to post that I used Packdog's suggestion and it worked perfectly! I just wish I had asked earlier: before I spent three hours working the first three inches with rolled up sandpaper! I finished off the last seven inches with Packdog's suggestion; and had the whole job, from making...

    Brilliant Packdog! Thank you!

    Enlarging ramrod hole

Good to know, thanks! The new rod has a brass ferrule at the tail end. I suppose I could just sand that down too. Thanks!

    Enlarging ramrod hole

I've replaced the little twig of a ramrod that came with my MVTC fowler with an unbreakable one from Period Ramrods. I need to enlarge the hole in the stock just a bit so that it can receive this rod. I have no idea how this hole was drilled in the first place - a 60" bit? I'm thinking of...
