Just wanted to thank y'all for your replies. Even though I am coming to this sport late in life ( over 30 by a lot) I am really excited by the responses I have received on this forum. Thanks

    Thompson Center Hawken

Chance, the gunsmith said it was in very good shape. He still has it for a thorough cleaning and to completely inspect the rifle, however he felt it was in excellent shape. If it should fail his inspection, it is covered by the store warranty and he will replace anything it needs. Cool huh?

    Lyman1860 Army

My wife bought me a Lyman 1860 Army at a local gun store. While I have been able to find several articles on the Lyman revolver, I am unable to find out anything about the markings on the grip frame. On the bottom it has the numbers 049 and on the top are the words Buffalo Soldiers. If any of you...

    Newbie from Texas

I am pushing the dread 65 and finally getting a chance to do something I always wanted, shooting black powder. Since I am determined to teach this old dog new tricks, I will probably ask many stupid questions and will in all likelihood make several mistakes. This being said, this old dog will...
