to 58 or not to 58, that is the question

I'm a fan of .58 - when results matter, I don't shoot enough to have results - so certainly defer to the wonderful people here who know their firearms and capabilities. As a child, chip on my shoulder from being on the side that lost the War Between the States, I always wanted something with...

    Hunter killed by elk

This practice is a mandatory safety / public relations rule for the bow (only) hunters in our suburban county deer control program.

Do you prefer Real Black Powder or a BP substitute?.........Why?

Plus 1 with an exclamation point ! I have a data point of one - YMMV. I got into muzzleloading "late" as I had a budding interest in hunting and wanted to take advantage of our two week muzzleloading season. I also have a passing interest in the War Between the States, and it's an emotional...

    .58 cal bullets supply

My repro Richmond in .58 (0.577) is 1 in 72" twist. 65 gn ffG puts Minié in the black. Ed Heathwaite dba Maplewood Bullets in Brattleboro, VT is another good source for made-for bullet orders. He uses flat-rate shipping with the USPS, keeping rates low.

My apologies -- this is a Flintlock forum and I don't have any. :-(

.50 or .58? Mostly target, some hunting?

Totally agree with the want. Had an interest in the War Between the States growing up, and when circumstances allowed, I purchased a reproduction Richmond 1863. Sine I was in the neighborhood, I also acquired along the way a TC pre-fire Scout in .58, and then a TC Firehawk in .58. All of...

    Thompson Center Warranty

Let's remember that T/C factory suffered a huge fire -- almost like a geological boundary where the fossils above differ from the those below, many T/C models trace their end to that event. I have both a .58 Firehawk and .58 Scout carbine - both pre-fire firearms. Both had problems when I...
