    The Kibler Colonial

No worry, you can still eat the heart, probably. ;) That's a really good buck. I haven't killed one of those in 2 decades. I hope you get the really big one. Merry Christmas to you. 🎅

    Swing and a miss!

One swing and a miss means you still have two more chances before the umpire calls you "OUT!" Please make the best of those two chances. I love it when people score under adverse conditions. 👍

Michigan Muzzleloader season any weapon goes.

I assume this is tongue in cheek. If not, you might just like to stir up trouble. Either way it is a bummer. Is this Gov. Gretchen's way of eliminating the "non gun" muzzleloaders? If Michigan has an overabundance of deer, then the bag limit is a good idea. But the rest stinks.🤬

    Son got his first one

Some nipples are straight and some are tapered. Same with different brands of caps. CCI are the worst for my guns, however, sometimes you can ease the hammer down and push hard on it with your hand or a block of wood and that will seat the caps so they go off regularly.

Update to the Jawbreaker deer hunt story - Since I couldn't edit original post.

When did this happen, Johnny? Within the last 20 years? If so, why didn't we hear or read about it? I still think it's garden fertilizer just a bit sweeter than usual.

    Really bad start

Both of my younger brothers have had bad accidents because of deer ... and their recklessness. One left a high school party at 9:00 pm and bundled up because it was 14 deg. He took a back road as a shortcut and hit a 170 lb. buck @ 80 mph. He slid for 150 yards, tore through both his coats and...

.58 Colonial is a heart breaker

We are not carnivores instead we are omnivores. Therefore, we don't process food exactly the same way. There is a PhD (maybe he's a scientist with a Master's degree) who studied dog nutrition for quite awhile. I don't remember his name but he insists that the best food for carnivores are organs...

    Tennessee ML Season Opener

The temp. of the water is what counts. If it was 50 or below, he might be good, however, bacteria thrive in moist places and it usually takes refrigeration or an ice water bath below 40 to insure that a deer won't spoil. Deer have good insulation especially fat ones so that would slow its...

Hard, brittle, and fast PRB for more damage?

Round balls that are pure lead expand somewhat when hitting resistance. That slows down the ball and a lot of them don't exit to give a good blood trail. A round ball cast with wheel weights is harder, much less likely to expand and has a better chance of exiting the deer providing a much better...

.58 Colonial is a heart breaker

Almost a good shot (I love heart too) and really handsome rifle. What kind of peep sight do you have on it?

I totally agree. Everything from "Spit to Shinola" will work. ;)

    Successful Stalk

Very nice buck. Good shooting! I like your dogs too. The smaller brown one on your left looks like my old Boykin spaniel who has now passed. Please tell me about it.

    Lyman GPH .50 makes meat

But you ruined the best part. ☹️ My kids and I love fried deer heart. Also, deer liver makes the best catfish bait.

    unicorn …

He wouldn't be classified as a buck in Florida. A buck here is defined as having one antler longer than 5 inches. He would be an antlerless deer here and you would need a doe tag for him.

My hog rifle got me a buck!

An 8 and a 10. Can't do much better than that. :thumb:

    PA doe with .54

I have broken teeth on several things (9 crowns to prove it) but never broke one on a lead ball or lead shot. Steel shot? Yes!, Frozen Milky Way bars? Yes!, pieces of bone? Yes! So, Joe L, go ahead and chew away. :thumb:

    Missed opportunities

If I saw a wolf at 15 yds. while hunting, I would get a big adrenaline rush whether it was legal game or not. If legal I'd be trying to shoot before he bugged and probably rush the shot. If not legal I'd be worried that he was hunting me. Either way I'd probably be shaking. That would...

Ya' never know what's up there.

Living near the Withlacoochee now means you're in a world of hurt. The river is in high flood stage south of Nobleton and will have you in its clutches soon if it hasn't already. I hope you are OK.
