Thread size for aperture of TC peep sight?

I have replaced the aperture in my T/C peep sights with standard Lyman apertures with no issues.

    Browning mountain rifle value

The JBMR is a great gun with classic hawken lines, and i love the single set trigger but the main spring on the locks is a weak point. These springs are very thick and under alot of tension when cocked. If you buy the gun, do not dry fire it as you will likely break the main spring and...

    One side or two

I only grease one side (the side that goes down the bore into the rifling). I like to keep the (dry side) on the ball. I believe the patch better grips the ball if it is un-lubed, but as stated in the previous comment by French Colonial, the grease will squeeze thru the patch to the ball.

    Gun range lead concerns

Noise was really the real issue, but we had an expert from the Sound Lab take measurements at our property lines and we were well under the state noise level requirements.

    What is the best book?

If you suspect dried or gunked up lock parts, try putting the entire (assembled) lock in an untra-sonic cleaner. After about 30 min, take the lock out and blow dry it with compressed air, and lightly lube.

    Gun range lead concerns

Our club had a similar problem. The expert soil scientist we hired for the public hearing debunked all the concerns of the lead in the ground. To appease the neighbors, and to settle before it go too expensive, the club built new sand back stops for the ranges, and every 3 years we screen the...

Best way to unload after an unsuccessful hunt?

I have had a "donut" of compressed powder left against the breech when a C02 discharger was used. I always clean the bore as if it was shot to be sure all powder has been removed and the barrel clean.

Best way to unload after an unsuccessful hunt?

I keep my rifle loaded thru-out the season. I have a small colored party balloon that I keep over the muzzle, I place a orange foam ear plug up against the touch hole on my flint lock. Close the frizzen with a stall in place. The balloon reminds me that the gun is loaded. I do this all...

    CVA squirrel rifle

I had a version called the "Grey Squirrel" in .32 caliber. It had blued furniture and a single trigger. I later found the LOP to be way to short for me, and the low comb straight stock made it hard for me to line up the sights. It was a great shooter with a somewhat rare 1:56" twist for a...

    Strap bag vs belt bag?

I carry my immediate hunting and reloads in my pocket.(see picture). My muzzle loading tools, should they be required, and field dressing gear all go in my day pack with lunch, snacks and water.

    Pedersoli Ghost Ring Tang Sight

Most Ace hardware and True Value hardware stores carry an assortment of gun screws. You should be able to find some that will work for your application. You may still need to drill and tap one hole if you plan to use the existing rear tang screw hole.

    Pedersoli flintlock not cocking

I would check the set trigger adjustment screw located between the two triggers. I like to start off with the screw about 1/2 way out and gradually (1/2 turn at a time) adjust the screw out or in until the trigger has the let off that I want. If the screw is all the way in, the cock will not...

FOR SALE Vintage Sure Shot Flintlock ZIPPO Conversion Kit Original 1960's

I bought one of these on a lark. They do work, but look weird, and not PC.

    Pressure flaking top or bottom?

I'm all thumbs when trying to knap my flints. I have since started using a diamond file to dress my flints. It doesn't remove as much flint when sharpening, and the flints last longer. Not PC, but it gets the job done. Flints are starting to get expensive, so I can't afford to mess them up...

    RWS 1075 Plus VS CCI #11 Test--Surprise

Wow, that shows a signifcant increase in accuracy with the CCI #ll. I wonder if the hotter RWS cap may have something to do with it. I think a comparison of the RWS caps and CCI Magnum caps would be interesting as they are comparable.

    Percussion nipples

For my percussion guns, I prefer the "Red Hot" nipples from Knight. With heavy charges in my 58, I make a point of picking the nipple after a few shots as cap residue sometimes blocks the hole due to the excess pressure.

    How often to disassemble lock?

I rarely disassemble the locks on my guns. For cleaning, I place the entire lock in my ultra sonic cleaner, then blow dry with compressed air, and lube as necessary. For my hunting rifles, I like to lube the lock with dry graphite for cold weather use, Oils and grease can sometimes slow down...

    NMLRA membership increase

I'm also up in the air regarding renewal. I switched to the digital magazine as it was much cheaper, but the mag is 85% advertisements. I just may let my membership drop. On a fixed income, and can't justify $50 for a magazine subscription. I will never get to Friendship, and that what the...

    32 Crockett cleaning headaches

I like to use a smaller than bore diameter jag for cleaning my rifles. By that I mean I use a .32 jag in my .36, a .36 jag in my 45, 45 in my 50 , 50 in my 54 and 54 in my 58. for the .32, I use a .30 caliber jag for a suppository gun. I like the patches to slide down the bore, then bunch...

Who Hunts Reg Seasons With Their Muzzleloader?

Same here. I hunt mainly with flit locks, unless the weather is nasty, then I switch to a percussion gun.
