    Nipple install? Need help

I also use a piece of aquarium tubing cut short as a nipple protector. That makes it easy to dry fire without mushrooming the nipple.

    Patch question

I have found that pre-lubed patches are often aged and reliable. Try using mattress ticking and lubricate them shortly before shooting or use Spit lube, Also cut at the muzzle assures a perfect patch fit.

I also have a Pedersoli Kentucky in 45 and experienced the same problem. I sent mine to a gentleman to have the lock geometry adjusted and the springs tuned. Mine works much better now. Problem is is that I can't remember his full name. It's Brad something. Perhaps others can chime in.

What’s Your Favorite Long Gun that You own.

All y'all have those nice guns. I have only three, 2 percussion and 1 flint. My go to and favorite is my GPR. It shoots better than I do, always goes off and I have made it mine (still looks like a GPR, though). My others, while good guns, a Pedersoli Kentucky flinter and a CVA mountain...

Frustrated - Hopefully just the growing pains of a newbie

You have a good handle on what to do now that the jag is out. What are you using for a patch lube? I have used Dutch's "dry patch " method and had good success with it but it almost requires swabbing between shots. Swabbing can lead to pushing fouling into the breach causing misfires. I now...

Who among us are PIPE smokers?

I don't smoke one but twice a year. On Halloween with a wizard's pipe and on Christmas day just because. I have several pipes but my favorite is a Churchwarden long stemmed pipe. One is a clay pipe but I don't think it is Historically correct.

    Patches

You might be putting the cart before the horse. Only change one thing at a time. You might find that a great powder load will act differently when you change the patch. My recommendation is to test the patch and lube before you test the powder load. Get a good group and then see if you can...

Do you name the guns that you build?

Thought of naming my GPR Jessica because that is a favorite name of mine but I have three friends that would probably not like the idea. They are all named Jessica. Also thought of Betsy but that is my wife's name. Instead I just numbered them e.g. that's my first one tother is my second one...

Barrel Browning with Laurel MTN product

Joe, the barrel is steel and will rust anyway. After carding off the last coat and neutralizing with whatever; you should do an oil soak for a day to keep oxygen from getting in. I use cheap motor oil. I had a problem like that and the oil soak did the trick.

    Reloading Lever Damaging Balls

Are the pellets pure lead? I have seen where some pellets are an alloy. Pure lead is preferred in casting for percussion BP revolvers.
