    Gardening ..again

If Sevin is the main "killing" ingredient in this mix it won't take but a few drops of soap (Dish Detergent). Some leaves can get burnt with a heavy dose of soap. But soapy water in itself is a pretty good insecticide. I don't have the measurements, I usually just "eyeball" it.

Mix a little soap in with the Sevin dust. The soap is an astringent and make it stick to the plants and bugs. It don't take much.

Soapy water in a squirt bottle sometimes stops or slows down some insects. But it might help to know what particular insect your after. The eggs or the actual insect are usually "goners" when sprayed directly. Maybe spraying the leaves with the soapy solution would make them mighty untasty to a bug.

    Creek War Club

You're right in mentioning that the Creeks possibly did not have access to Crepe Myrtles. I think they are native to Asia and Australia. But it's the kind of wood I'd use too because, like the Creeks, we use what works and what is available.

More Things in Film That Bug Me

What exactly did the Scoutmaster Kirby Randolph (John Payne) do to weaken the breech of the old guns in "Sante Fe Passage"? He used only a file and did something to the guns that he gave to the Indians. The guns held for 1 shot then "blew up" (or out) at the 2nd shot. Could that have been done...

Got a handful of Large Red Cherry tomatoes today. These "first fruits"are normally the ones that I save the seed from. But I couldn't resist, quartered up and into the salad they went.

    Ice Box

I recall reading an article about ice during the Civil War there was a Col. Blanton Duncan who tried to get a contract with the Confederacy to supply ice. He was one of the printers of money for the C. S. Treasury. I don't know anything about lithography or the printing of money but Ice was...
