    I have balls now

Glad you made mention of that. Old Santy Clause brought a half yard each of red and black stripe ticking. Its all cotton so I am going to be banging away here in just a little while hopefully providing the weather is a bit more accomodating than it has been these past few days here.

    I have balls now

I have probably overlooked it in here but I have finally gotten .50cal round balls. I have been muttling through the sabots I got for Christmas last year. But I am now ready to start ramming those round ones in. My question is this, what size do I cut the patches to fit my .50? Also is bore...

I am wanting to change my rear sight on the Hawken from the fully adjustable to the more traditional type. Is this something that I can do at home or do I need to hire out me a gunsmith?

sabot and powder stuck and won't fire

I havn't noticed any debris as yet but that very well could be a major factor. I will be on the watch and a nipple pick is on the way. Thank you for bringing this to my attention my friend. I can see that BP shooting requires lots of things to be be thinking about and functions to be performed...

sabot and powder stuck and won't fire

Yes sir it is indeed fiberglass. I had no idea bout that. What do I look for in the Home Depot? I mean to ask what does it look like? Why would fiberglass harm steel? I am not understanding this one

    Trigger pull weight????

I want to include all who have responded so graciously in this thread. Thank you for your insight once again. Zonie you are dead on about the trigger pull being in the ounces and once I read these posts I remembered the original owner telling me he did a lot of competition/target shooting. I...

    Trigger pull weight????

I have been hesitant to do that but only because I have gotten so rattled with this gun that I have begun second guessing myself on just about every point I have encountered.

    Trigger pull weight????

Afternoon my friend, It looks similar except mine has two small adjustment screws just behind each trigger. I am thinking that I may just need to take the gun apart bit by bit and see what I need to do to get it where I need or want it to be. I have not had the hammer assembly out of the gun...

    Trigger pull weight????

Guys I know you all are probably getting weary of my questions but I do have one more that I need a bit of help with. My .50 has of double set triggers which I love. However when the hammer is at full cock and the set trigger is engaged, all it takes to fire the weapon is a whisper. All one has...

sabot and powder stuck and won't fire

Hey hey hey I got one right for a change. A synthetic rammer was the first purchase I made outside the powder and cleaning jags. My wooden ram rod did not look like the drawing and I didn't feel comfortable with it. I appreciate the heads up and a plan for ramming the ball. I was...

Ok I have some of that percentage of alcohol here and will start doing that. The caps being fired beforehand sounds like a good idea as well. Thanks for your help.

sabot and powder stuck and won't fire

 No problems I understood what you were saying. But that has been a problem with this thing too. The very first shot I made with it when I bought it took a lot of effort and I mean a lot of effort to get the slug down the barrel. That being the case I just assumed (yepper I know about...
