    Fusil de Chasse, at last!!!

Sounds like a plan: it'll just be some kind of French fowler, or I can call it a "fusil de confusion". Thank you! I'm going to have to look at a bunch of pictures and compare. As far as an accurate Fusil de Chasse, do you have any recommendations kits or made guns?

    Two great suggestions! Thank you!

    Fusil de Chasse, at last!!!

Literally just communicated with the Muzzleloader Shop and they said to send the lock back and they will fix it.

    Fusil de Chasse, at last!!!

OK. Good. I grew up a bit in NY and had an aunt in New Jersey. Vague memories. But realizing the the misunderstanding had me laughing so hard I was in tears. Thanks man!

    Any of these work?

I was just wondering. For the knives I will likely just eventually buy more correct ones, as I will with the flintlock. I don't think it's worth the trouble on these. There comes a point where it just isn't worth the effort, and it also kind of waters down the whole point of reenactment.

I was told the stock on my gun is Rosewood. I guess that's a hardwood also. That being said, I will still thin it down. It's just too "fat" right now. I've seen examples of others having done it, and they look good.

That's good to know, thank you.

    Fusil de Chasse, at last!!!

Thanks. I was looking at that turtle. I like them also. Thinking of crafting my own maybe-not sure. But those are neat too. I have to dig it out of my stuff in storage, but I have a metal (pewter?) turtle spoon pendant I got somewhere-maybe it was at the Kalamazoo living history event back...

    Fusil de Chasse, at last!!!

Yeah there's a lot of interesting history that is often overlooked. I am also fascinated by Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca-what a journey! I lived in Florida for some time, in Miami and for almost year in Satsuma, near St. Augustine. I briefly was able to join Men of Menendez and participate in the...

    Fusil de Chasse, at last!!!

That was a good read. Thank you. And you are correct: I don't want to be grasping at straws. I figure I will do research when I can, hopefully attend some events soon and gather information, and slowly put together something realistic.

    Fusil de Chasse, at last!!!

I'm thinking of removing my front sight, as it is more of a lug than a sight, as Clark accurately pointed out. I really like the turtle sights, but can't find one I like. I may just make my own. Am I correct that these are attached using silver solder? I would also guess that removing the...

    Fusil de Chasse, at last!!!

I think I just realized that Bud in PA meant to say that that is how he responds to those who insult him. I think he was giving me a suggestion. I have been cracking up at the misunderstanding!

    Fusil de Chasse, at last!!!

Anyway, the more I look at my gun, the more I want to improve it. It may be humble and nondescript, but I see a hidden gem.

    Fusil de Chasse, at last!!!

Thanks man. I'm sitting here in tears from laughing, because I now think that Bud in PA meant to say that's how he responds to people who have insulted him-as in saying that's what I should say to the put-down of the fusil. It reminds me of one time I sent a text to a friend to avoid this movie...

    Fusil de Chasse, at last!!!

HOLD ON!!! Did you mean that the WAY you reply to people who insult you or your possessions is by saying "You have obviously mistaken me for someone who gives a s#!t about what you have to say or think! Good Bye!" ??? Maybe there's been a bit of miscommunication here.

    Fusil de Chasse, at last!!!

Regarding the front sight... I need to do something about that square lug. I really like the turtle front sights I have seen. Are there regulations in events regarding that sight: for or against, neutral, steel, brass?

    Fusil de Chasse, at last!!!

LOL! :dunno: You've obviously mistaken me for someone else, are on some kind of drug or medication, or you are insane, because I haven't even addressed you previously, not to mention belittle you or whatever possessions you have. That being said...

    Fusil de Chasse, at last!!!

UPDATE: I sent a text to The Muzzleloader Shop, to marty actually. He responded immediately, told the boss, and the boss called me within minutes and said he would correct the issue. He was very apologetic and very forthcoming. These are good people and despite everything, I am glad I did...

    Fusil de Chasse, at last!!!

And I wish Clark Badgett would see that, and contribute his knowledge to help. "It's not a FDC and never will be, but here's what you can do to make it look good anyway-maybe like some offshoot musket." Clark Badgett, your knowledge would be greatly appreciated in helping me, and others, turn...
