    Sharpening Hawks

Does anyone file the sides of their hawk to taper the cutting edge in order to have the hawk stick better? Two guys with good scores at our last hawk throw both filed their hawks to achieve a thin profile on the hawk cutting edge (about 1/2" back from the edge). Is this a technique to achieve...

Will 3F prime ok in a pinch.

I use 3F a lot in my pan. It works so well that i don't plan on buying any more 4F. also; I carry a fancy patch knife to impress the other shooters. It is however useful for cutting up my hot dogs to put in "Beanie Weinie" :winking:

    DGW-Tennesee Rifle-Flint

My Brother brings a DGW Tennessee flint to every one our shoots as a "spare". Very reliable now that the lock was reworked. I agree that its a bit heavy but it is still doin the job after 25 or more years. regards Rich Thomas

    U.S. Flint

Mossie: Search e-bay for "flint". I recently bought 20 lbs. of Comanche County, Texas Gray Flint. It was inexpensive. I am using it with steel strikers for fire starting. It works just fine. I hear it is O.K. to knap into many other items. Wear Safety Glasses! Rich Thomas
