    RWS musket caps

Back Creek Gun Shop is getting in 1,000,000 but that's only 1,000 for 1,000 customers so they won't last long. Price to be determined. https://blackpowderva.com/

It looks like the forum has censored my post and others too. ****=****, let's see if it does it this time. Yup, it did. **** rhymes with sock

    Looking for info

Replica Arms was an importer (only) and was sold to Navy Arms just before yours was made. Your Pietta is one of the transition pieces imported during the changeover. If I remember correctly the box would have been marked with both NA and RA.

The fog is about to roll in!

"Fort Shenandoah is the location of all N-SSA National Skirmishes and Sutlers Row. It is also host to many regional skirmishes for local teams and regions." ADDRESS 480 Chalybeate Springs Rd., Winchester, Virginia Google the address for a map and aerial photo of the range and campground.

    Other than Hoyt......

Hoyt is still working but nearing retirement. He still has the business, didn't turn it over to a son. He is training a young female who is very interested.

Looking for someone who can Replicate, Cast, and or Locate a "Hinged, Brass, Conch Shaped/Seashell Shaped" circa 1850's Patch Box Cover/Lid.

http://www.collectorsarmouryca.com/product_info.php/products_id/35 Is this the one? Unusual to be seen on the left side. Since the gun is percussion (never flint) it probably is a cap box and not a patch box.

    Brass frame revolvers

If you can find a vintage one with low mileage it would be fine but if you are really worried about it just buy a new one. Either would work for you.

    R.Johnson model 1836

The minor pitting around the nipple won't hurt a thing nor will the frosted bore. If you plan on using it seriously in competition you might consider lining the bore but for casual shooting it won't matter. I would eventually remove the nipple after soaking the breech in a penetrant. A 1/4"...

    anti-gun USPS

I don't doubt your word that they asked you. The P.O. employs human beings; some are better at their job than others, some know the rules and some don't. They aren't supposed to ask but it does happen. Someone not thinking and following the script or just plain nosey or possibly thinking they...

    anti-gun USPS

The P.O. cannot ask what the contents are and if they do you don't have to tell them. The can only ask the standard question about hazardous contents.

Trouble with the Bolt and hammer on an 1860 colt sheriff's model from Taylor's

It sounds like you are the victim of Italian tolerances and quality control. Nice to hear you fixed it. Go easy if you decide to grind on the bolt arm, a little can do a lot. Don't try to bend a bolt arm, they will snap (posted for a friend who did just that). Here is an excellent video on...

Trouble with the Bolt and hammer on an 1860 colt sheriff's model from Taylor's

If it worked before and won't work now the problem is that the nipples are too long. The hammer is blocked from going forward enough to reset the action. File a little bit off each nipple. Altering the bolt or hammer cam (without having an excellent knowledge of single action workings) can...

    anti-gun USPS

I just shipped a Remington C&B repro from VA to California via USPS. Absolutely no problem whatsoever. The local P.O. was closed so my wife dropped it in the outgoing mail receptacle in the lobby, just barely fit. Package your item with extreme care, buy the postage online and attach the...

Advice from experienced golf ball mortarmen requested

This one cost me $125 unfired. The seller recommended 90 grains. I started with 30 and the result was like a scene from a Looney Tunes cartoon. I jumped up in 10 grain increments keeping the landing spot within the clearing I had so that I could retrieve them. I got about 300 feet for a...

need help with 58 minie bullet mold

Welcome to the N-SSA and the Capron shoot will be a great chance to meet and ask questions. You are getting some great advice here and My $.02 Confederate worth would be to get a mold that casts slightly over your measured bore and then size to .001" to .002" under that measurement. Be sure to...

    Crockett nipple wrench

Your nipple may be in way too tight. It only takes a thumb and a forefinger on the wrench to tighten or loosen a nipple. Use anti-seize too.

    Musket stock? Belgian? Identification needed.

That's the stock from a Belgian trade gun as sold by a lot of importers in the 40s to the 70s (later?). They didn't sell for much when new and it's not worth spending time or money on now. Most likely it was flint with a back action lock and a seperate piece in front of the lock with the pan...

    Help with identifying rifle.

A musket is a military arm usually smoothbore. Yours is a civilian piece and quite likely rifled. Probably American made with an imported lock.
