    Whitworth

A Whitworth rifle would make a fine deer gun. They are very accurate long range rifles;were used by snipers during the Civil War.Bullets may be a little hard to find but you can get a mold and make your own.Using black powder they will out shoot most if not all modern inlines.

    Small-bore flintlock for a newbie

I bought one ,a 32 cal flintlock, from Cabels. It's alot of fun to shoot and I've hunted squirrel with it.The 32 cal. has a reputation of fouling but when I use a wonder wad over the powder charge I can shoot five to ten shots without having to swab the bore.

    Wads in a rifle

Wads are great.I use them with my hunting loads to help lube the bore and as extra protection for the patch.I've also found that they make reloading my 32 cal.flintlock alot easier.I can shoot it numerus times without having to wipe the bore between shots.
