Made a hike out of it.

I read somewhere years ago that Native Americans (aka, Indians) used serviceberry wood to make arrows. Anybody else h=ever hear this?

How to TIGHTEN a front dovetail site?

I recently tightened my 32 Pedersoli rear sight dove tail slot using a recommendation I found here on the forum. I took 16mm, 3/8 drive socket and laid it in the slot and whacked the socket with a hammer. I was very conservative and after three hits, checking after each hit, the sight went in...

Stuck ball in a charged rifle

Based on all the excellent advice from the members, it seems that there have been a considerable number of dry ball situations among the populace :)

    Ball puller drill

You guys are great. Thank you all. Dean

    Ball puller drill

Does anybody make/sell a fixture to attach to a rod that will drill a pilot hole in a stuck ball before turning the ball puller screw into it to pull it out? Seems that without removing some lead to make way for the screw, you could be making the ball even harder to pull. And with a pilot hole...

Is loading from the flask really that dangerous???

OK guys, you convinced me. I'll be gathering up some powder measures for my new method of charging my rifle and revolver.

    Hammer blowback

Just to close the loop on this. A new nipple fixed my hammer blowback issue. Thanks to all for the input.

    32 caliber T/C Cherokees?

Aha, I got it. Makes sense and thanks for the explanation. Great information from real experience. I do get a lot of gunk after even one shot and using several patches after every shot until coming our even reasonably clean. I can't wait to try the Hoppes from Bassdog 1 and I've already ordered...

    32 caliber T/C Cherokees?

Finally found a fairly accurate load for my 32 Cherokee. I tried 103g T/C maxi balls with 21 then 27 g 3F with Wonder Lube on the bullets. Both grouped at less than 2" at 50 yd with almost identical POI. Still working in getting PRB to shoot that good but not done trying. Also tried 70g Buffalo...

    32 caliber T/C Cherokees?

Hmmm. Lousy in that it's not a good lubricant or something to do with fouling, accuracy, other? I'm very interested in following up with this to see if this may be some of my problem with accuracy and fowling. Thanks hanshi Dean

    32 caliber T/C Cherokees?

Thanks Bassdog for the feedback. Man, I sure hope so. I am aware of the crack stock issue and that's the last thing I want to see in this beautiful little rifle. But, I do want it to be useful at least out to 50 yds. I'd take an inch and a half but 5, 6, 7 inches, no. I put a little white dot in...

    32 caliber T/C Cherokees?

Jim, what kind of groups are you getting at 50 yd? I'm seeing 6-8" no matter what combo of PRB I've tried. Tomorrow I'm switching to 103g T/C maxi ball and 70g Buffalo Bullet Ball-et.

    Button buck

And to your closing line, " I thank him for his sacrifice. " That's been exactly my sentiments looking down on every magnificent creature that has ever fallen to my rifle. Every one.

    My first patch knife

I think it looks great and I'd leave it just the way it is. Probably the guy who made it was too busy shooting at the horde of Indians that were attacking his cabin to worry about how his epoxy would set.

    32 caliber T/C Cherokees?

Seems that the 50 yd 3 shot 5/8" group I mentioned in post #26 was a fluke. Since then I've tried every patch/ball/charge combo I could think of and still not grouping. Anybody have any insight on 32 Cherokee accuracy other than what's already been stated in this thread?

Can't shoot lead balls all the time - what's better than paper wads?

I recently loaded 85g 2F in my T/C .50 Hawken and topped it off with a small piece of a rag that packed in nice and tight over the powder. From my back patio, I expected a loud "poof". What I got was a blast every bit as loud as a real RB load. I heard some interesting reactions from some...

    Good morning everyone!

Welcome from a former fellow Lancaster Countian. Years ago I worked with a guy from Conestoga, Harold "Scotty" Scott. What a character. Sometimes we'd take our Friday lunch break out at Park City to look at the "scenery". He panned for gold in the Conestoga Creek, and found some! A real...

    32 caliber T/C Cherokees?

Yeah, everything I've read so far says 1:30 is correct for this rifle.

    32 caliber T/C Cherokees?

Just came from some range time with my 32 Cherokee. My measurement looks closer to 1:36 twist, but there could be some error in my measurement. After reducing the charge of 3F from 32g to 21g today, I saw a huge improvement in accuracy. First three at 50 yd came in at 5/8". And, fixed my...

    Hammer blowback

Thanks to all for the input. I just ordered a couple nipples from Track of the Wolf. Not sure of the brand though. BTW, my powder is Goex
