    Educate me on borescopes, please.

I had never heard of Depstech before. Looks like an excellent choice, and they have a nice selection of products at good prices. Teslong is sending a replacement for my 36" flexible borescope. I had tried adjusting the brightness control and cleaned the lens. Nothing helped. Sent the picture of...

    Educate me on borescopes, please.

I hadn't even noticed the brightness control switch until mentioned above. Tried adjusting low to high, still not working. Put the camera up to different things, no change; just this image: Will send to Teslong customer service and see what they say.

    Educate me on borescopes, please.

I had bought the Teslong 36" flexible borescope recently (to help solve my 'stuck ball - with drill bit' issue - thread started in March.) It worked perfectly. However, after VERY loosely winding it up to fit back in the case, it no longer worked. I had read comments about how fragile it is...

Stuck ball, now with drill bit

The tube was easy to find, as it's 1/2" and 36" long. The ball with drill bit, no luck. Spent about 15 minutes looking. Maybe someday on one of my hikes up and down range to change targets I'll find it.

Stuck ball, now with drill bit

Correct. I first put in FFFFg Goex (17 gr, not 30 gr as I had said before) through the breech port and nipple well. Chose superfine powder to help get more in. Superfine packs very easily, so I had to pour a little powder, use a piece of wire to break up whatever packed, pour some more, etc. I...

Stuck ball, now with drill bit

Oh, also, I do live in a very urban area, in a very (excessively) restrictive state. Would probably have to drive 100 miles to find a random place to shoot and even then, good chance I'd get arrested. So had to rely on 'the range,' which ended up being closed for about five weeks. Would really...

Stuck ball, now with drill bit

OP here. SUCCESS!! Bought a 36" aluminum tube, 1/2", put it in the barrel after moving the ball back, put probably 30 grains of powder in and the tube shot out about 48 yards. Just did this yesterday. Couldn't find the ball, but it's definitely out. Had some missteps along the way. Recorded...

Stuck ball, now with drill bit

Okay, people, settle down. The only range around is closed until Monday for major maintenance, so I plan to go there then. In the past 30 years, they have NEVER been closed more than a day at a time, but it's been over a week now. (And it's been only 10 days since I first posted this 'problem.')...

Stuck ball, now with drill bit

OP here. Range is closed for another week. Weather's bad. Have eye surgery on retina scheduled for later this week (vitrectomy). So won't be able to try some of these suggestions for at least a week. But really looking forward to getting this done. This has been very enlightening on a number of...

Stuck ball, now with drill bit

OP here. The borescope is fantastic! (Teslong Rifle Borescope, flexible, $46 on Amazon). The Good: The drill bit is not hitting the bore. The Bad: There is a hole is the ball, so air, grease, shooting out will likely not work. (Verified several weeks ago; tried CO2 a few times. First time...

Stuck ball, now with drill bit

Yes, this is truly a learning opportunity, as in never do this again. I'm of the mindset mentioned previously: if you're digging yourself into a hole, stop digging and set the shovel down. The borescope should arrive in the next few days. Really want to assess the situation before totally...

Stuck ball, now with drill bit

These are all excellent ideas. I think my next step is to get a bore scope and see what the situation is with that drill bit. Not too sure if the grease gun method would work, as I don't think the ball is 'sealing' the barrel anymore. The first time I used a CO2 cartridge, the ball moved 6" and...

Stuck ball, now with drill bit

Hi, I have a problem with my Pedersoli Rocky Mountain Hawken 54 cal. A ball got stuck, so I glued a drill bit to the end of a wooden dowel, slid the dowel down the barrel and screwed the bit into the ball; this has worked perfectly other times. However, this time the glue didn’t hold, and I...
