Thoughts on an original 1860 COLT Army
You guys all have legit comments ..I admit to wavering back and fourth .. I'm sure the one I am looking at now will price itself out of contention for my willing investment range .. rodwha ..there is not really a right/wrong here .. There is no question that Pyrodex is at the top of the heap as to being the most corrosive ..followed some distance behind by black powder in the fact both both propellants DO require ASAP weapon cleaning T7 does not need/require same day...- Brokenbear

To clean or not clean??
Stay with the triple seven for the hunt (and thereafter too!) Keep the rifle upside down and run a caliber correct bore brush through the bore dry just to get the big stuff out ..pull the nipple and clean it with alcohol and let it dry ..clean your flash channel with a pipe cleaner the kind...- Brokenbear

Choice shooting rest
when working up loads for accuracy on a new to me rifle or bullet change to an old rifle I like to take the shooter (me) out of the variables as much as possible by using not only a bench but a fixture/jig/rest/ whatever to steady up but more importantly reduce variables I find my Caldwell 7...- Brokenbear
