Not Not fer sure from where I sit. I have to use this Android cell phone and I see no way to edit. Texting on a 1 1/2 inch X 2 1/2 inch keyboard invites errors. I'd love to be able to edit what I publish here and on Facebook. Pls hint me if there is something I'm missing.

Wet/dry metal sanding using light oi?

Thanks, Phil. As you suggest it seems to be a matter of flowing the debris out from under the paper, plus maybe superior cutting with oil. Kerosene does stink. But there is a kerosene-like lamp oil, I just can't think of it's name. I've seen "deodorized kerosene" for lamps. Hmm...I wonder if...

I think if I shot one, I'd surely be rushed to the ER!

Wet/dry metal sanding using light oi?

Or cutting oil? In my Draw File Question post, Phil mentioned that using water with wet/dry sandpaper would work better than dry paper. I believe that. So,. *I wonder whether light oil or de-odorized lamp oil would work better, using good liquid flow to wash out debris?*. The...

I read somewhere about the nature of good files, and once, Nicholsen made good ones. Now it's Chinese owned and no more than a mediocre product. (No expert here though)

I might not be able to do that, as my tremor doesn't let me keep the file from rocking on the flats. It would help to un-sweat the thimbles etc. but paradoxically I don't want to incur the job of re-sweating them. Any prediction of what would happen if I leave those few fine browned scratches...

Hi, I'm re-browning my 36" 58 caliber octagon bbl, finding difficulty with sanding off the existing browning. I'm using 180 and 200 grit silicone carbide paper, and the bbl has some seemingly deep parallel scratches that I can't sand out, so far, and I'm sanding long and hard. I picked up a new...

    Buying advice

I bought an out of state BP rifle that turned out to have serious undisclosed problems. Then my problem was that I had no recourse because it was out of state. Never again will I buy anything from anyone who isn't well documented as being trustworthy.

    Shot in a .58?

50 years ago with my .50 swivel rifle, I shot several loads of shot using an appropriate shot cup and light wad. Maybe I was doing something wrong, but the patterns were impossibly donut shaped.

    Slugging an oddball barrel.

Machining the mold will be x-PEN-sive, if I can find a machinist who wants to do it. It's a slightly twisted hexagonal bullet of all things. He might want CAD drawings, which would be too large an added expense. But I'm not there yet. Now I need to talk to some Whitworth owners. Thank you all...

    Slugging an oddball barrel.

You and Phil Good suggestions and grist for the mind.I agree that a cold bbl will probably f-up the slug, so I'm abandoning that idea ,I'm thinking I 'need' a bullet that is slightly narrower than the bore, and that a certain amount of shrinkage might be what I need. My present question is...
