I have an older Great Plains 50 Caliber built in 1982, I recently tried a Musket Nipple on it and discovered the Hammer wouldn't land over the nipple. The edge of the hammer head contacted the cap and it won't land squarely. So it was a waste of money for musket caps and nipple in my case, so...

I have cap punch and use Prime-All, I had several hundred empty I punched out a year ago. Took me about an hour to mix and fill 60 caps, I figure by the time I drove 60 miles to and from the muzzleloader supply and paid $16.99 for a tin I came out ok (just saying)
