    Dangers of Touch Hole Picks

California prop 65 is a catchall. Being a Southerner, I can eat white beans and cornbread, and I'm labeled a main cause of global warming.

    FFg in a .45

'87 4x4 with manual lockout hubs. The 300 CI inline six was a damn good engine. I bought a '94 after I was quoted the repair cost. There were about 10 or more deer, I dodged all but one!

    FFg in a .45

The last deer I killed with a 6 cylinder was in my F150 with a straight 6. Does that count?

    Goex Powder

I remember my visits to Dixie Gun Works. The original guns he accumulated is amazing. There is also the car museum.

    Goex Powder

The last time I bought Swiss, it cost $7.50/lb. That was a premium price at the time. I wish I had known about Olde E when it was on the shelf. My understanding is they will again make it.

    Goex Powder

https://schuetzenpowder.com/swiss-black-powder/ Most of my stock is Swiss powder. If I knew about Schuetzen, I would probably have some of that brand, too. I still have several pounds of Goex, because when I first got into muzzleloading, that's what was locally available. It could be found on...

    Goex Powder

I don't know about the quality of water being a factor. I fact, I'm no expert in the matter at all. What my understanding is concerning quality is the charcoal used and how completely it burns. To my knowledge, Swiss uses the best charcoal.

    Goex Powder

Good answers, but I would like to know if the new Goex has been improved over the original.

    Goex Powder

How many have bought Goex since it came back on the market? I personally don't need any at the moment since I still have a stash old Goex and Swiss powder to boot. Is it the same as it used to be, better, worse?

What makes for a good flintlock cleaning tube clamp?

I don't feel the need for a cleaning tube. I clip off the very end of a toothpick and stick it in the touch hole. I use Windex and a swab to run in and out of the barrel. Some say to use windshield wiper cleaner. It doesn't take all that much. I run enough patches down the barrel until it...

    Gunpowder

When I was a kid, a farmer friend of my father said he came from the storage shed and found his 6 sticks Dynamite had sweated. He called the sheriff's office and told them he was going to move them to a safe place and shoot them with his 30-06. It left a good size hole in the ground, but at...

First Flint bore charge not going off.

I forgot Lyman is metric. Thank you for pointing that out. I would never go beyond 0.070" for the touch hole.

First Flint bore charge not going off.

Your vent hole may be wet or partly blocked. Maybe you should try to use a vent pick after it's loaded. I use a jumbo paper clip. The diameter is the same size as most vent holes. I also may take @Trot's advice and change the liner if you keep experiencing the flash in the pan. Go with a...
