    Lets see those Range Boxes!!

That's why this one appealed to so much as it did. The fact that it's 1/2" solid wood got me to thinking about the weight. But a thought that ran through my head concerned the use of finger joints in the box as shown in the article. 1/2" Sande wood plywood (5-layered and double veneered) is...

    Lets see those Range Boxes!!

I happened to be in front of my house today when the mailman came down the street. Waited for him to get to my house, he handed me the mail. On top of the stack was this months Woodsmith magazine. I took one look at the cover as I was walking back to the house and thought to myself ... a few...

Repurposing a Dog Show Grooming Box

A little story ... My wife and I are Alaskan Malamute breeders, and have been for a very long time. When you show dogs you collect a lot of things, that you bought and thought would work out well, but don't. Then those things hang around, not being used either until you give it away, or throw...

First Build - Jacob Dickert .50 Cal. Transitional Period

None whatsoever. In fact it’s quite fast, I’m told by those more experienced than I. I get about 20 shots or so without cleaning, before I get a pan flash from a fouled flash hole. Tested that too after correcting the internal issues with the barrel. Surprised that I had the issues I did with a...

First Build - Jacob Dickert .50 Cal. Transitional Period

I worked on it about 10 hours across several days. A little at a time and when I got tired or sloppy, I walked away for a while.

Thank you. In hindsight there are several things I would do in a different order, and some I'd do a completely different way. But all in all, I am very pleased with this rifles look and performance.

First Build - Jacob Dickert .50 Cal. Transitional Period

After much tinkering with loads and sight alignment, the 100 yd run came to look like such. Not too bad for 60 y/o eyes and shaky hands ... .490" Hornady ball, 0.020" patch, 85gr FFFg, 100 yards off-hand.
