Corsair Jager 36 caliber SxS pistol-looking for info

I managed to get the gun out and shoot it today... Had a few kinks to work at being my first time and all but overall it was a real hoot to shoot. The gun shoots and my hammer spring did not break so it was a great reward to shoot it My high vis front side is about twice as tall as the...

Corsair Jager 36 caliber SxS pistol-looking for info

It will be interesting experiment. I have the pistol finished.... The trigger ended up not being so bad after all...so I'm gonna leave the spring as is. I made a barrel pin and a nipple tool. I will print some squirrel targets and see how things turn out and will post on the accuracy from a...

Corsair Jager 36 caliber SxS pistol-looking for info

Interesting... That is a great idea using a thumbscrew! I may copy your idea. I got my hi vis front sight installed... It is a whole heck of a lot easier to see than the original brass bead. The sight cost about 10 bucks on amazon...the screw that fit the original bead hole was 3mm x .5...

Thanks for sharing the pictures. It's the same thing as I have judging by the looks.. mine says Corsair Jager on the barrel but they both look like they came down the same assembly line. I was trying to think of what to do for a rear sight for mine if i can get it shooting somewhat accurate...

Using car wax as a preservative

I just recalled that on my Birchwood Casey gun bluing material they said to prevent rust use either oil or their Birchwood Casey gunstock wax. I may pick some up and give it a try.

How to clean gun properly after shooting prodex or 777 powder

Thank you all for taking time to help me. I will at least initially use the pryodex and triple seven since I have them on hand but I'm going to look at getting some black powder. Any body have suggested source for black powder? I assume if I can't find locally I can get it on line.

Corsair Jager 36 caliber SxS pistol-looking for info

I have it together less the nipples, the barrel pin and the front sight. I'm going to take a socket or piece of steel rod and modify it to install and remove the nipples. I had a hard time removing the nipples without scratching things up. Last issue... I lost the itty bitty front sight bead...

Here is a better picture of the new lock spring or hammer spring.. is lock spring the correct term? I hope it works.. I tell you making things by hand really makes one gain and appreciation for the skills that Craftsman had over the years before the industrial revolution. I probably spent 8...

How to clean gun properly after shooting prodex or 777 powder

Hi, I'm getting close to completing My project 36 caliber pistol. My question... After using pyrodex or triple 7... Do I clean my gun like I would with smokeless powder, or like I would with black powder? I have never shot black powder but seems I have been told for black powder to first...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Hi. I worked on my 36 cal double barrel project gun. Finished fabricating and fitting a replacement lock spring for it, one was cracked I cleaned the nipples and bores..they were all gunked up and cruddy. This gun was sorely neglected. I used hot soapy water and a bore brush and then when I...

Where to start working up a load?

Greetings, I have limited experience with muzzleloaders limited to a replica 44 caliber revolver kit that I purchased about 40 years ago and shot a few times but then I put it away and had not shot it for many years. At the time I picked up a flask with a fixed measure on the spout and I...

Using car wax as a preservative

I used to carnouba auto wax with no polishers on it on my entire rifle for years to protect it from rain when hunting. It seemed to work well. I wiped it on and let it dry I did not buff it out. It left a thin wax film. It preserved the bluing well. I got it in about 1982 and just recently...

    Hell from Arkansas

Greetings. Glad to find this forum. I have pretty limited black powder experience from 35 years ago with a black powder revolver. I recently acquired a project 36 caliber double barrel pistol and a 20 gauge Howdah pistol kit. I'm looking forward to learning and having fun shooting these...
