    Nipple install? Need help

This is what works for me. My nipple wrench is the type that looks like a socket and has a rod through it crimped on each end. The T handle Ted Cash nipple wrench is pretty close to what I have. I cut the crimp off so I can remove the bar. Put the nipple in the socket and start by hand...

Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle Day 1

That turned out nice. You are luck to have a friend like that. I really liked the way you did the videos too.

WANTED Looking for a small 40 or 45 caliber flintlock rifle

I see beautiful rifles for sale here every day. Buy the one she likes. I think you will find it to be far easier to shorten an existing stock than it is to find one of that length for sale. Take her to a gun fitter before you do any cutting.

    My first Muzzleloader

That is a typical load for a 50 cal rifle if shooting patch and ball. For target use you can try starting lower, 40 grains. No idea on reenactment loads. It’s a neat looking piece, enjoy!!! For your questions. 1) Up to you. 2) 490 3) yes and yes, either way works fine. 2F would also...

Seeking Opinions on a Recent Kibler SMR Purchase Experience

What’s so dubious? He disclosed to what could be a potential issue, he refunded your money, you don’t like the way he refunded your money…… Is this the problem, you wanted a discount by pointing out possible flaws but instead got a refund. You mentioned several days later when referencing...

    Investarm Rifles

I would have to agree with you that the major components are the same. It would be cost prohibitive to make “special” barrels just for Lyman. I wouldn’t doubt if you’re a big enough importer or distributor you could specify some minor things like the wood grade and finish or the amount of...

    NMLRA membership increase

That would be odd considering they had recently been running a discount on membership. $100 for 3 years. NMLRA should do like NSCA/NSSA and give complimentary memberships to first time attendees. Come try our sport, not a member no problem here is your free membership. We think you will like...

Additional tips on removing stuck nipple

Your gun appears to be in excellent condition and well maintained so I would not expect the nipple to be badly seized in. I think, as you mentioned, you are just being too timid. Apply more torque. Take the advice from above and remove the barrel. You can use painters tape on the barrel if...

    Colt 1851 Navy—120 yards?

If that is the yardage you need to use to fit your story I’d just go with it. If it makes the story better that would be preferable to historically accurate, and I don’t really find that to be a to outrageous stretch of the truth. If I read that in a book I would understand that I am reading a...

Hey guys, this is meant in jest. If we can't laugh at ourselves, we're missing a lot.

The lack of a pre shot routine and rather sloppy powder handing habits have already been mentioned but what I really want to know is? Who would go through that much work and then not bring their weather station to shoot the can? How can you make the proper load and sighting corrections for the...

    Barely any sparks

@Wiscoasters photo is worth a 1000 words, a couple of points to see. -flint oriented with the “hump” up. -flint is striking the frizzen in a good spot, somewhere between half way up and no more than 2/3rds of the way up on the frizzen face. -on half **** the flint should not be touching the...

Introducing the Kibler Colonial .58 caliber smoothbore MAXIMUM BLING

Looks great! I wondered what one would look like all polished up and it looks a lot better than I thought it would. I enjoyed reading your log book stories over the winter too.

What's the purpose of this screw on my TC flintlock

Just a guess, is it there to index the breach plug during the manufacturing process? The barrel and plug are both round so do they index it for when the hook on the breach plug goes into the tang the touch hole, under rib (if it has one) and sights are in the correct alignment.

    carrying loose shot

I use a prescription pill bottle, works great. Secure lid and they are wide enough to just dip the shot out with a shot dipper. Can it in my bag. I’ve tried to make shot pouches but they don’t turn out near as nice as the ones shown in this thread so I gave up on that for the time being.

    Got a new toy!!

Wow, that is outstanding, love the metal finish. Every time I look at it I like it more, it’s beautiful. I’ve looked at these pictures over and over and can’t figure out what it is that makes the gun look so good. The wood is great, already mentioned the metal. The shape of the comb, the inlay...
