    Middlesex Trading Pistols

I own one of Middlesex Valley's trade pistols. The trigger was extremely when I purchased it, but a friend suggested I file out the wood hole that the trigger bar goes through. This improved the trigger pull to a surprising level. Next, the wood is very weak. I dropped the pistol from a...

    Remakes of Our Favorites

I would like to see a remake of "Northwest Passage" if they used the complete book, not just the first part like the original did. As for "Drums Along the Mohawk", I don't know. That is still one of my favorites, watched it again last night. Henry Fonda, Ward Bond and Edna May Oliver as Widow...

    english flints vs french flints

I have shot both French and English flints. Both spark really well and provide good service. Personally, I like the French amber flints better myself. No clinical data, I just feel they spark a little bit better. The English flints are easier to obtain and they're both about the same price. Buy...

    Traditional Hunting?

Matt, I am thinking of having one made, but was wondering if yours is wool on both sides. I would think that an orange duck cloth lined with wool would be better for hunting. Of course, I have other waistcoats and do not need one that is reversible. The one I am thinking of would be exclusively...

    Need some solid advice

Thank you gentlemen for your worthwhile advice. It seems the situation wasn't as desperate as originally thought. I washed it with water and nothing improved, I used Pledge and it responded briefly, then I used some Old English for dark woods and it came back nicely. Thanks to all again.

    Need some solid advice

I was cleaning my muzzleloader after some heavy use and accidentally some of the water came out the touch hole and on the wrist and side of the stock. This removed some of the stain and finish from the stock. When I hit it with some pledge, the color seems to come back, so I'm not sure how much...

    north star west

Had an almost identical situation with my Caywood Wilson. Discovered my lock had cracked the mainspring, had a friend who forged me a new mainspring. Called Danny Caywood to let him know and he asked why I didn't call him first. I told him I already had a new mainspring forged, yet he sent a...

    info on Caywood flintlocks

John I am lucky enough to have owned a Caywood Wilson for the past 10 years. The 36" .62 caliber smooth barrel has worked perfectly on the range and in the field. Looking down the barrel always looks like the barrel is bent, BUT the shot always goes right I aim it. Last year, I purchased a .58...

    Need help and/or advice

I was getting my shooting stuff out of my truck and my MVTCo Ketland pistol fell out landing on its grip. The stock broke straight through and is currently being held on only by the trigger guard. A picture of the damage is available at...
