What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I don’t know how I ended up with it, but my mom used this to blow up balloons when I wasn’t even old enough to know how a balloon got blown up! Still works great!

Scheutzen is the importer of Swiss brand powder. Their containers are identical. The only other containers I have are from 35 year old Goex in metal cans. But your spout will definitely fit Schuetzen and Swiss.

Hope all works out to the plus side for your daughter... and at the Dr.s. And best of luck to the Mrs for a speedy recovery. Looking forward to seeing the other side.

    Another name for #40 drill?

No one working at the local JoAnns seem to know what "Drill Cloth" or "Pocket Drill" is. Just go with the item number, and you'll be GTG. BTW, the "#40" reference everyone seems stuck on only refers to the 40" width of the cloth bolt, and isn't actually part of the name anywhere I can find.

Next question, capper for 1851 Navy

A Polish Capper works for everything. Even Remington 1958's... I have a Ted Cash snail, and it works very well, but not on the 1858 revolvers. I got a Polish, and it works well for everything. https://www.polishcappers.com/en/

    What's wrong with this doe?

Just like in humans, some instances of obesity are going to occur in the population. That tends to happen a lot more often in humans, tho... ;)

    Best Animal fat for lube?

I've been using lard for a long time on patched roundballs. Used to use Crisco shortening, but it tends to melt when it gets really hot outside, and haven't found that to be the case with lard. Very simple, cheap and it works well for me. For my 1858 Rem revolver, I use a vegetable fiber...

    Stuck loaded

I have a Kibler SMR. The times I’ve had a ball stuck, I just picked the vent really good, then filled the pan with 4f and thumped the opposite side while at an angle. All the powder disappeared thru the vent hole. Repeated until no more would disappear (about two pans worth), then shot the...

    How do you eat them

I've actually been eating it as is, with no embellishments. I like it a lot that way and haven't seen the need to amend it yet. It might be the venison substitution for the beef that gives it a little more zing in the flavor that I'm fond of... I use pure red meat venison for my doeburger...

    How do you eat them

BTW, @The Miner '49er mentioned "Goetta" in the "Jokes Anyone V3" topic once upon a time. It sounded pretty good to me, so I made a batch, ate all 40-some servings, and now I'm on my second batch. I found that frying it to a crispy brown on both sides make it taste the best. I've been making...

    How do you eat them

Classic definition of the word... ig·no·rant /ˈiɡnərənt/ Alt/ˈiɡgərnənt (southern) lacking knowledge, information, or awareness about a particular thing. "they were ignorant of how to prepare grits to make them taste good." ;)

    How do you eat them

I usually eat grits with a little salt, sugar and a pat of butter. I tried your recipe a few minutes ago, and I'm impressed! It was delicious! I'm convinced that when people say they don't like grits, they just weren't properly instructed on how to doctor them up. There are many, many ways...
