Making Barnett N.W. gun for Ricky

Doc White of GRRW fame built a copy of a NW Trade Gun from pictures and measurements from an original one seen in the 1960 at the Denver Art Museum. He built this gun for me off theses pictures and measurements. What was really neat was the caliber of the gun, a .50 caliber smoothbore. Doc had...

You saying you have a Colt 1851 in .36 cal, I have a question about one I have. It's a Colt 1851 in .36 cal. (Uberti), had it tuned by Goonies Gun Works. Got the gun back from shop and decided to install the Slixshot nipples (had a hard time getting the wedge out). Installed the new nipples...

    Cow Elk Load

I normally shoot in my .50 cal. guns 80 grains of 3FFF for most game animals, (mule deer, antelope) and up the load to 90 grains for elk, black bear and buffalo. Use the same loads in either smoothbore or rifled guns with no issues. Placing the shot is the most important thing with any hunting...

The PA ‘One-of-a-Kind’ Flintlock Deer Season Turns 50!

I attended the first season in Mifflin County PA and years later almost got my butt kicked for mentioning the season at a Colorado State Muzzle Loading Event. I was the President of this Association and they thought I was wanting to lobby for such a season just because of mentioning it.
