    UnderHammer

You have a very nice looking piece of wood. My UH stock is quite plain but I probably will never be motivated enough to replace it.

    Triple Sight Picture

I installed a rear peep on my ML long before I had cataract surgery. Where I lived at the time the ML clubs and four rondys a year I attended had many shooters who used peeps. Where I've moved to I only found one club that allows a rear peep. The rest are hard core "open iron sights only"...

Hopkins & Allen Underhammer Boot Pistol

Umm, perhaps I'll post mine for sale in the classifieds on this site. Since my wife no longer shoots BP I can use her pistol.

    How heavy is too heavy?

I met a concrete contractor who made a special handle bar which attached TWO wheel barrels together so he could move more cement with every load. The man was massive.

    Stock Finish Other Than "Brown"?

When I built my underhammer I choose blonde to finish the maple stock pieces. I think the not so common color goes with the unusual lock.

This simple idea was and still is genius.

Considering what I shoot (see my photo) this is an interesting firearm.

Shooting a flintlock rifle upside down for a score?

I think certain military training includes disassembly and reassembly of firearms while blindfolded, but I'd advise NOT shooting while blindfolded.

Hopkins & Allen Underhammer Boot Pistol

So glad that you got it figured out. I own the identical pistol and was preparing to take a photo of those parts but I won't bother to now. Mine parts look like the ones that Mousegunguy already posted, but I was going to show clearly a flat blade screwdriver slot in each piece. Turning only...

    rust in bore ???

I suggest trying steel wool on a cleaning jag to clean the bore. Start with 0000 and use coarser if you need to get more aggressive.

whats your favorite part of muzzleloading, what keeps you hooked?

Trail walks: each unique target presents a challenge to see if I can make it clang. I always show up early before the shoot and stay for chili to visit. Club shoots and rendezvous provide opportunity to escape modern living for awhile, but I don't have to stay there for my entire life.

    Too nice to shoot.

I can sort of understand collecting unfired guns for "investment" but guns are made for shooting; cars are made for driving; musical instruments are made to be played; and although I personally do not drink alcoholic beverages, wine is to be consumed.

    Any bead collectors here?

Here is a photo of my necklace made mostly of African sand cast beads. The diameters vary up to .80". I was walking around a mountain man show and when viewing wares at a bead vendor the shop owner noticed my necklace and wanted to inspect it. He said they were the largest he had ever seen...

Oxidized balls, think they will be a problem?

I hadn't shot black powder for 7 years after my last move and discovered all my stock of round balls were oxidized. It caused a problem loading .490 with .018 patches - WAY too tight. I got some .010 patches and now the loading is normal. I haven't done any bench work to see if my group has...
