Any 'Cannoneers' looking for a cannon?

Uh Oh. I better start trying to come up with some cash.

    Mini Coehorn/ Emprouvette shot

It’s that Beaufort Naval Armory that I posted in another thread. It was advertised as a “golf ball” but it is a little bigger. 2 inches. I made some quick projectiles using PVC 1 1/4 caps. They fit perfect.

    Mini Coehorn/ Emprouvette shot

I’m mounting it on this piece of mahogany.

    Mini Coehorn/ Emprouvette shot

I’m getting this little jewel dialed in. 1rst shot: 54 grn 4f. 8 oz. Projectile - 56 yards 2nd shot: 117 grn 4f 8 oz. Projectile -165 yards 3rd shot: 234 grn 4f 6 oz. Projectile- distance unknown, I never got visual of the round. I guess it landed in the next state. So, somewhere...

    Emprouvette Mortar

It’s not mounted yet, I’m looking for a suitable base. Probably a nice thick piece of oak. There are holes in the base for mounting. I have two objectives with this little jewel. One is to launch a 2” projectile in the hundred yard range with a “lifting charge” foomp. The other is to make a...

My two golf ball caliber cannons

    I want one.

    Emprouvette Mortar

I will let you know if that’s true. Thanks.

    Emprouvette Mortar

I found some old 2mm fuse, so I did a blank shot with loose wadding. Not too bad, but it was a small report for the amount of powder. The golf ball is too small for this bore. 90 grains barely cleared the muzzle. I will fabricate a new 2” projectile and make up some 4f powder and I believe it...

    Emprouvette Mortar

I did a quick inspection, it looks like the powder chamber is about 90 grains. It was too cold in the shop to do an accurate measurement. I will get some specific data when I start shooting it. My beer can Coehorn will launch about 300 yards on 300 grains. I wish I had a big lathe.

    Emprouvette Mortar

I’m not certain if they are still in business, but they build some really neat stuff. I would so love to have one of the 10 gauge breechloaders. I would suggest that you continue to pursue your collection of wine corks in hope of one day finding a mortar that would shoot them. We all love to see...

    Emprouvette Mortar

Great! I have ordered some 2mm fuse. The vent hole was too small for what I had. I will probably load similar to you. The builder included instructions for shooting blanks. They recommended 1/2 to one cylinder bore of powder with loose wadding. My bore is 2”, so that’s a lot of powder. It is...

    Emprouvette Mortar

My cannon fuse is to big. I guess the test shot will have to wait.

Video didn’t upload, so here is some pics.

    Emprouvette Mortar

My latest acquisition. I paid too much for it, but you can’t find this stuff just anywhere. Beufort Naval Armorers Emprouvette Mortar. It was advertised as “golf ball” cannon, but it has a 2” bore. Just a little big for the golf ball without a wadding/patch. Hopefully I will fire it today and...

    Snubby barrel

Thank you. I will go to plan B then.

    Snubby barrel

    Sweet!

    Snubby barrel

That’s kind of been the plan. I can find lots of Pietta barrels, but not any ASM.

    Snubby barrel

I think I will give up on the interchangeable barrel idea. I will just look for a complete short barreled gun.

    Snubby barrel

My thoughts too. I was just hoping that someone tried it.

    Snubby barrel

Will a Pietta Snub nose 1860 barrel fit on an ASM 1860? Anybody tried it?
