    Get yourself a Dixie Gun Works catalog. The back section has all kinds of interesting charts in it. Hours and hours of good reading. It has charts of balls per pound and the corresponding bore size for smoothbore and rifles. It's always good to have reference material like that on hand.

    First , these guns are shipped without touch-holes being drilled. So they are not proofed at all unless the end user sends them off to a proof house or does it themselves. I add that none of the thousands of hobby built guns in America are proofed either. American barrel makers use the best...

    It looks like one of the smoothbores that Dixie Gun Works imported back in the 60s and 70s. Made in Belgium. They were made in the same factory for trade to the natives in 3rd world countries for two hundred years. So are they originals or reproductions?

    Great, then learn to shoot off of your left shoulder. A rifle built for left handed shooters can be had and it really improves shooting because it will fit you better.
