FOR SALE Defarbed 1863 Zouave Rifle

That breech arrangement is definitely an Italian repro. Originals had a full barrel with a plug.

FOR SALE Defarbed 1863 Zouave Rifle

No, not original barrel. Too many grooves. Also, maybe literally defarbed- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authenticity_(reenactment)#/media/File:"FARB"_marking_on_early_Italian_Zouave_rifle_replica.jpg

Need to have a barrel bored for 10 gauge...

Good day all! I have a gunsmithing need. I'm looking for someone to bore an 11 gauge barrel out to 10 gauge. No breechplug, just an open tube. I'm in the U. S. Thank you!

    Fitting a nipple questions-

I thought I was misremembering, thank you all for clearing me up. We will see how it shoots. Although I'm not entirely sure the nipple thread is right, have to do a cast of the barrel threads and take it to a machine shop for gauging.

    Fitting a nipple questions-

Good day all! I have a nice Rigby target rifle with no nipple. * I've bought one at the gun show, and I don't know about how much it should stick up. As it is, the hammer nose rests on the top of the nipple and that stops its downward travel. I have it in my mind that the nipple is supposed...

Shotgunning with a muzzleloader took a religious turn

Ours used to have a paschal lamb impression in the center.

    What is this musketty thing?

Yes but I didn't want to invest that much in my curiosity.

    What is this musketty thing?

Thank you all, keep it coming- this is good learning. I have no "eye" for these things as yet, obviously from my doglock adventure..

    What is this musketty thing?

FWIW I thought Swedish or northern Europe, those marks and the butt shape look like that. If it were French I would think it would be proofed. I am also just trying to learn, and don't feel so ignorant since you all are mystified too. It's not mine, it was recently auctioned (not to me) and...

    What is this musketty thing?

Continuing my interest in early flint muskets, I bid on this thing but didn't get it. Auctioneer said 72 caliber and rifled, but I expect the rifling was done looong after it was made. Does anyone have any ideas what it is and when it was made? I thought maybe Swedish or a German State...

    Doglock lock problems...

That is exactly the problem! The sear and tumbler were effectively too close. I've fixed that, and it doesn't have the hesitation any longer. Thank you! New problem, though. With a wooden false flint, everything works as it should. With a real flint, though, the frizzen doesn't snap open all...

Who made this Jordan 1742 Long Land, and where could I find a barrel?

Here's the inside of the lock, what am I looking for as to the boss for the front bolt? As to the legalities, it was on auction in England as it is. The auctioneer informed me that the barrel no longer exists. Whatever happened to the barrel, and why, are closed books. I know the British law...

Who made this Jordan 1742 Long Land, and where could I find a barrel?

Alas that is way beyond my skills, and probably not worthwhile- spend a thousand and end up with a $900 musket. I thought if I could fall into a barrel that didn't cost the earth, it would work out. Might just be the most sensible to sell the stock on, maybe someone has something with a broken...

Who made this Jordan 1742 Long Land, and where could I find a barrel?

I assume I would have to send the stock for a barrel to be matched, unless it's some known maker's product like a Miroku. But I have no clue to whom to send it, keep the ideas coming thank you!

Who made this Jordan 1742 Long Land, and where could I find a barrel?

Good day all, more of my Bess folly. In this case I bought this stock and lock in England. (Although I'm in the U. S.) The barrel is gone- a casualty of British firearms law where a replica flintlock barrel is still a firearm. My internet research has found mention of a "Jordan" marked long...

What is my new dog lock musket, or doglock musket, supposed to be? And who made it?

An interesting adaptation! Now, posting another folly of my Bess interest- https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/who-made-this-jordan-1742-long-land-and-where-could-i-find-a-barrel.186068/

What is my new dog lock musket, or doglock musket, supposed to be? And who made it?

None taken, you're right. Good advice, what I'd do if I were as serious as I ought to be. As I said, I just got silly with English muskets. I'm grateful for all you all's help with this. I'll post another silliness tomorrow!
