    12th Night Ball

Saturday, Jan. 6, 07, is the annual 12th Night Ball in Prairie du Rocher, IL. It's at the American Legion there. Starts at 8PM (better get there before 6:30-7), goes 'til midnight. A lot of eating, drinking, dancing, socializing, etc. Not a lot of modern clothes people, either. Always a lot of...

    Caywood .62 cal Rifle Fusil?

I've had my Caywood I. Wilson .62 smoothbore for over ten years now and I love it, and I'll never get rid of it. Now I don't believe I'll be getting anything else from them. Now Jim Chambers.... Happy holidays, One Ear

These knives don't normally sharpen so easy as to indicate softness; I will though raise the tempering heat. Would 450 be a better choice? I...

Making a knife out of an old file?

I've made 25 to 30 knives out of old files, and 99% have been Nicholson. I did see a chart that said files were w-1 steel; probably the same chart we've all seen. Now I haven't forged but 2 knives; the rest were ground and filed. I feel the only real difference between the two is the price. I...

    What stain for leather

I've used Fiebing's (sp?) dark brown leather dye to dye horn, antler, leather, wood, and usually some part of my hands, fingers, clothes, etc. I've found that when dying leather and it has lighter and darker areas, oiling the leather with mink oil will even out the color. Be safe...
