    Hammer Wobble

That .004 slop will for sure make it wobble. Shims will help, but getting them in is the trick. What I have done to help some of the issue, is to anneal the hammer bottom only. Then place the hammer on a good vice or anvil and peen the hole, folding the square sides inward. Be carful not to...

    Build an underhammer rifle

tom, You have a great selection of posibilities for a underhammer. My desire to make an underhammer took me to RJ Renner. Here are some photos showing simplicity of his receicver and action. RJ's system uses a musket nipple, which of course helps for easier one handed cap placement. Larry...

.54 Caliber Ante Chamber - What MFG's Don't Have One??

Here is another thought: PM BigSkyRambler and ask him what he may have or can get for you. He sells lots of previously owned rifles. Larry

Get a chunk of Cocobolo wood. Good stuff. If that don't work, cheat and put a tapered brass stem in. Larry

Slow Mo Flintlock HANGER but great follow through

This is what no flintlock shooter wants, a hanger. Take note of the good follow through this shooter has. FWIW it isn't me. Larry

    Double trigger repsir.

As Phil said the set trigger nose should be a sharp hardened point. Send your photos to Track of the Wolf. If Ethan recognizes your lock he may have a replacement trigger. Before you do that the contact surface the rounded nose intersects with needs to be examined. If that is eroded/worn...

    Double trigger repsir.

Take the triggers out and make sure they work outside of the stock. Start there and when it is out make sure there is nothing in the inlet that is encroaching on the trigger set up. A photo of the trigger will help too. Lots of good help here, we just need more info. Larry

Extra Slow motion on flintlock ignition

It is hard to tell. My avatar was taken by a photographer and he had a camera that sounded like a machine gun. He then picked the frame you see. Other slow motion vids I have taken with my phone are way faster than this posted video. I thought about a hanger too. Thanks Larry

    Jukar trigger assembly

Not having this in my hands here is what I would do based on what I see and don't know: Stone and polish the tumbler notch, and sear tip, making sure I do not change any angles. Shim the tumbler full cock notch so the sear is bearing 100% of it's toe thickness. Check the sear spring and thin if...

Why does a load shoot two separate goups??

What a can of worms! There are lots of potential probems that can cause this. If you are asking for help you need to tell the gang here what you are doing. Be specific: Gun, powder, powder charge, caps, ball size, patch material, wind conditions, and sights to give the boys a start. Larry

    New To Me Gun Question

Not too sure what the heck color/slobber is on that gizzy, but looks like a mild rust or stain used on the RR that went onto the metal. Larry

    Is Swiss Powder any good?

Haven't shot pyro and never going to try it. I shoot flint and Swiss is good stuff! Burns cleaner than others I have used. If it is good when you start using, kept dry and free from contamnation, it should last years. As far as selling, you better check with you local laws.

A simple powder loading tip for newbies

Lots of posts here on the forum about ball extraction for various reasons. One big reason " I forgot the powder". Everyone has there favorite measure and mine is an adjustable brass one with attached funnel. Now for the tip: I measure the powder and pour in the barrel, leaving the...

My new Jäger Rifle look at the adjust. Rearsight

You should be able to slide the sight forward to a selected segment line. It should have some means to hold it in the chosen position. If it don't stay put where you selected, there could be an issue. The aforementioned is for elevation. Without seeing in person, I can't say how or if...
