Do you have a muzzleloader with an inexplicable problem?

I suspect your problem is getting your caps mixed up. Make sure you're not occasionally putting a left hand cap on the right hand barrel.

Hunting - Need your clean/cold bore 1st shot to hit w/ the rest of the shots?

For hunting, I sight in for the first shot on a cold clean barrel. Never worried if a second shot might be a few inches off because I've never needed a second shot when hunting. 😁😎

Additional tips on removing stuck nipple

I'm a little late to this thread, but for those who haven't tried it a soldering iron is a great way to apply heat to a nipple or vent liner.

Who among us are PIPE smokers?

I have a dozen or so pipes and smoke a lot. I started with cigarettes around age 13 (times were different then when the ads said "nine out of ten doctors recommend Lucky Strikes" 😄), I switched to the pipe at age 17. I'm 79 now, so I've been smoking pipes for the last 52 years. As I sit here...

A question for my fellow Hunters

I do either one or the other. Both work fine. 1. Swab the oiled bore with a very wet alcohol patch, pumping the rod to blow alcohol out of the nipple/flash hole. Then a dry patch or two. 2. Give the bore a blast of Carb Cleaner, followed by a dry patch.

first shots with store bought Swiss powder

I ordered some gumption from Amazon. But I gave it two stars because I still have a bunch of lead that needs to be turned into balls and can't seem to get around to firing up the burner.

    Pure frustration

I've never done this, But here's what I would try. Get a 12" length of 1/4" brass or aluminum tubing, and a 3/16" x 36" wood dowel from your local hardware. With a hacksaw, make a cut about 1-1/2" deep into one end of the tubing to create two "fingers". Use the butt end of a 1/4" drill bit...
