I normally use felt wads in my muzzleloading endeavors, but decided to try some classic 1/2" 12ga fiber wads in a finicky shotgun to see if they improve the pattern! I lubed the outer edge of a bunch, and in doing so i noticed that one of the ends has a black flat side, and the other has a slight concave to it! When loading these, does the black flat side face toward the shot or the powder in the grand scheme of things, or is it an experimental thing like most other things with our guns?

Good question. Since I just slice my 1/2 inch wads into two 1/4 wads for easier loading and better patterns it doesn't matter to me. :idunno:

I use Circle Fly wads and wondered the same thing when I began using them. I called the company and was told that it does not matter which side of the wad goes up. It is black on one side only because that is how the material they use for wads comes thru to them. He said load any side up that you want.

I do not recall anyone in our club that uses the whole card, I just an OP card now if using anything other than wadding.
