I hope this is in the right section...if not...please move it. I have a T/C New England 12ga with the screw in choke tubes. Is it possible to still shoot a patched round ball with these tubes in place or would it be accident waiting to happen???

Right section... :crackup:

If you have screw in choke tubes, you should be able to find a screw in true bore tube as well, this will give you a cylinder bore the whole length of the barrel...

If not, you could use it, but I would use the one that is closed to true bore as possible, like the improved-cylinder...

People do shoot ball out of double barreled shotgun with chokes, the tighter the choke, the harder it will be to load...

You would want to stick to pure lead roundballs as well, a ball made of wheel-weights will not "give" as much at the tube and you could blow the end of the barrel off... :eek:

Where might I look for a "true bore tube" for this gun. And I do have all three of the choke tubes withn the gun, improved cylinder, modified, and full

Don't know ::

When chokes were originally introduced the proof house stamped the barrels NOT FOR BALL

OTOH I have a .451 deer rifle, barrel by Hollis and Sheath, with a slight choke and that shoots just fine.

OTOOH it has a lot more metal around the choke than your average shotgun.

It will work with the Imp cyl. choke tube ok. If it will load past the choke, it will come back out past it too. You might want to try it with no patch too. I use an over powder card wad, half a lubed fiber cushion wad with the ball set on it at the muzzle sprue up or down, and then an over shot card on top. I seat the fiber wad, ball and overshot card all at once. Don't forget the powder before that over powder wad. ::

Fox Ridge Outfitters is a T/C custom shop...

Try there...

Fox Ridge Outfitters

Or, you could call T/C Arms at: 603-332-2333

Or again, buy another I.C. choke tube and have it put in a laythe and bored out to true cylinder...
