I am looking at buying my first black powder arm, and have thoroughly decided on the pedersoli 1763 léger, but have a few questions before I buy.
1: does it come with a bayonet, and if not where can I find the correct one?
2: can I use it for duck and goose hunting with shot?
3: is it suitable for deer with patched round ball?
4: should I buy flints or is it more economical to learn how to nap?
5: finally, how many shots does the average flint last?
Apologies for so many questions and bad formatting, and thanks in advance for any help

So is this an Italian or an India origin French musket? Either should come from a dealer who has bayonets although they may be out of stock. IF it's a second hand musket, then you need to tell us the country where it was made.

2: can I use it for duck and goose hunting with shot?

Yes, it's not larger than 10 gauge, so it is legal for waterfowl, BUT you must use bismuth, or take special precautions when using steel.

3: is it suitable for deer with patched round ball?
Nope...., no patch. Get some fiber wads and a ball that is very close to the bore size.

4: should I buy flints or is it more economical to learn how to nap?
You should buy flints. It may be a few years before you can knapp a flint IF you start working on that today.

5: finally, how many shots does the average flint last?

It's a natural product, so tough to say. IF the lock is right, it might last 60-100 shots.

I have a 1766 Charleville by Pedersoli

Its a nice musket, very heavy. I would appropriately call it a 1763 Charleville Musket and not a 1766 Leger (means light in french lol), the musket weighs around 11 lbs without the bayonet and sling.

A 1766 Charleville is much smaller and leaner, the Miroku charleville by Navy Arms is its closest living repro, nicely built musket.

A loyalist arms 1777 bayonet will work just fine on that musket, for $80 your can’t beat it. The pedersoli bayonet is $225.

I shoot a .65 caliber round ball in a paper cartidge with this musket. I wouldn’t go higher than .67, the barrel is a heavier barreled 69 caliber musket, the barrel outside of the stock weights nearly 5 1/4 lbs.
