1816 Harpers Ferry Converted To Be A .69 Cal. Smoothbore "Musketoon" probably by the CSA.
No way to tell if it was a CSA conversion, but it looks to have been a CW era conversion.

Anyway, It's in very nice condition based on it's age, made in 1839.

With the active campaigns, in Virginia early in the war, thousands of muskets were gathered from the battlefields by Confederates. The Richmond armory distributed several thousand of the damaged muskets to Macon Arsenal and other arsenals to be repaired and refurbished. Typically the weapons were repaired to working order and many were shortened such as this one.

That's why I think it was a battlefield damaged musket that was turned into a "Musketoon" by a Confederate arsenal.
