If you are really concerned about being period correct then this is for you. This was one of my most valued possessions during my rendezvous days which have sadly ended due to age.
This box was made prior to 1839 and can be verified by viewing the newspaper used as lining for the lid which is dated Groton Village, Tomkins Co. NY, Thursday, March 21, 1839.
Box measures 21" in length, 11" wide and 9" high which includes the domed lid.
Original hardware as can be seen in the hand forged nails. The only modern changes made were new rawhide hinges attached with the original nails.
Box was originally covered with rawhide and I have left the remnants for authenticity.
