Gentleman,

Could I get a review, good, bad and ugly, on the Colt, Uberti and Navy Arms replicas of these models?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Kind regards,

I have a Baby Dragoon, but it is a brass frame made in Spain for CVA. Rather than dwelling on it, here are a few links I've found about these guns:

.31 CAL PISTOLS
.31 POCKET PISTOL
WELLS FARGO

When I was making this post, Photobucket must have been having problems because the photos weren't coming up in the links, but you never know. They may be working when you open them.

I have an Uberti I paid too much for from Dixie several years ago. The revolver is well made and is the only percussion revolover I ever owned that shot to point of aim without replacing the front sight. Mine is accurate enough and no doubt could be made to shoot better with a little load development. The 31 cal. in these revolvers is rather anemic. I believe max charge is 12 to 15 grains and velocity is a tad over 600 fps. A 31 cal ball weighs what, about 40 grs.? I'm not going to look up the fpe but it isn't much.

Having said that I've enjoyed mine a lot over the years and carried it on my trap line for a couple years. It is certainly adequate for trapped coon, beaver you didn't drown, fox or anything you're liable to catch. It would make an adequate trail gun in areas where you aren't concerned about critters that can bite back. You guys up in Maine can still trap bear, (I'm envious!), and I wouldn't recommend the 31 to dispatch a black bear.

Even tho I haven't fired or used mine for the last few years I wouldn't want to be without it.......just in case.

Vic
